Nick Taylor

Taylor was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and grew up in Abbotsford, British Columbia. His home golf course is Ledgeview Golf and Country Club. He won the Canadian Amateur Championship in 2007.
He qualified for the 2008 U.S. Open, where he missed the cut by three strokes. He finished T-53rd at the 2008 RBC Canadian Open. He qualified for the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black, where he made the cut, carding a 65 in the second round, the record for lowest round by an amateur in major championship history (Jim Simons also did it in 3rd round, 1971 U.S. Open, Tom Lewis did it first round, 2011 British Open). He finished T-36th, the low amateur in the championship. He also became the world's top amateur golfer according to the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking. In September 2009, he won the Mark H. McCormack Medal for owning the top World Amateur Golf Ranking after the U.S. Amateur.
Taylor turned professional in late 2010 and was selected to carry the Olympic Torch before the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He played on the PGA Tour Canada from 2011 to 2013, compiling 10 top-10 finishes in 25 starts. In 2013, he finished 7th on the Order of Merit and earned an exemption into the final stage of the Korn Ferry Tour qualifying school, where he finished 11th to earn status for the 2014 season.
2014 Notes: Finished the season playing in 24 of the Korn Ferry Tour's 25 tournaments. They had three top-10s and five top-25s while making 13 cuts.

He finished 69th in the 2014 Korn Ferry Tour regular season. He played in the finals and finished T-9th in the Hotel Fitness Championship and T-27th at the Chiquita Classic. Missed the cut at the Nationwide Children's, then had a T-21st result at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. He finished the series ranked 37th in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals to earn his PGA Tour card for the 2015 season.
On November 9, 2015, Taylor won at the Sanderson Farms Championship in only his seventh professional start on the PGA Tour. Taylor's win was the first for a Canadian-born player on the PGA Tour in seven years when Mike Weir won the 2007 Frys.com Open (Stephen Ames, winner of the 2009 Children's Miracle Network Classic, has Canadian citizenship but was born in Trinidad and Tobago). Taylo's next-best finish was a T-24th at the Valspar Championship.
2015 Notes: He played in 28 PGA Tour events, making 17 cuts and one top-10 finish at the Sanderson Farms. He reached the FedExCup playoffs, but a T-53rd finish at the Northern Trust ended his year. He finished 101st in the FedEdCup standings.
2016 Notes: He played in 26 PGA Tour events, making 16 cuts with one top-10. That was a T-5th at the Puerto Rico Open, where he finished two strokes out of the Finau/Marino playoff. I missed getting into the FedExCup playoffs, finishing 129th in the standings.
2017 Notes: Played in 29 PGA Tour events, making 20 cuts with four top-10 finishes. The best was T-8th at the Wells Fargo Championship. The following week, they shot 66-65 on the weekend to finish T-9th at the AT&T Byron Nelson. He was also T-9th at the Greenbrier Classic. He finished 93rd in the FedExCup standings.
2018 Notes: Played in 30 PGA tour events, making 17 cuts with two top-10 finishes. They started the year with a T-9th at the Safeway Open, and in the last regular tour event, was a T-8th at the Wyndham Classic, which gave him a berth in the first playoff event, the Northern Trust. He missed the cut there and finished 123rd in the FedExCup standings.
2019 Notes: He played in 28 PGA Tour events, making 21 cuts with one top-10 result. He was ranked 120th in the FedExCup standings. He was T-9th with partner Martin Laird at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. His best individual finish on the PGA Tour was T-16th at The Players Championship. In the FedExCup playoffs, they missed the cut at the Northern Trust.
2020 Notes: Played in 18 PGA Tour events, making 11 cuts with two top-10s. Finished 48th in the FedExCup standings. I was T-10th at the Safeway Open. Shot a first-round 63 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open to hold a one-stroke lead, his first career 18-hole lead/co-lead on the PGA Tour, before finishing T-29th. He won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in wire-to-wire fashion, defeating Kevin Streelman by four strokes to earn his second PGA Tour victory. Became the first player to win wire-to-wire at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am since Phil Mickelson in 2005. They played in the final group with Mickelson, who finished 3rd. For the rest of the season, his best finish was T-35th at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude. In the FedExCup playoffs, they missed the cut at the Northern Trust and finished T-51st at the BMW Championship.
2021 Notes: Played in 29 PGA Tour events, making 18 cuts with one top-ten finish. It was 141st in the FedExCup rankings. His best finish didn't happen until his last start of the season; he finished T-10th at the Wyndham Championship.
2022 Notes: He played in 28 PGA Tour events, making 16 cuts and four top-25 finishes. He finished 134th in the FedExCup rankings. For the first time in his eighth season on the PGA Tour, he failed to record a top-10, with his best result coming at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (T-14th). He did make the FedExCup playoffs but missed the cut at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
2023 Notes: Played in 30 PGA Tour events, making 20 cuts with six top-25 finishes. He finished 5th in the FedExCup rankings. He started his season with a T-6th finish at the Fortinet Championship. Shot 62-67 over the weekend to finish T-7th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Finished 2nd at the WM Phoenix Open, two shots back of winner Scottie Scheffler, earning the first runner-up finish of his PGA Tour career in his 235th start. He was T-10th at the Valspar Championship. With his partner Adam Hadwin, he finished 2nd at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, two shots back of winners Davis Riley and Nick Hardy. Made a 72-foot, 6-inch eagle putt to defeat Tommy Fleetwood on the fourth playoff hole and win the RBC Canadian Open, becoming the first Canadian to win his national Open since Pat Fletcher in 1954. Marked his third career PGA Tour title in his 246th start at the age of 35 years, 1 month, 28 days. He shot a 75 in the first round and stood T-120th, becoming the second player since 1983 to overcome an 18-hole position of T-120th or worse and go on to win (first since Ian Poulter at the 2018 Houston Open). In the FedExCup playoffs was T-24th at the FedEx St. Jude, 47th at the BMW Championship, and 25th at the Tour Championship.
2024 Notes: He was T-7th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Defeated Charley Hoffman in a playoff to win the WM Phoenix Open, earning his fourth career PGA Tour title. Made a birdie on holes 15, 16, and 18 in the final round to force a playoff and then made a birdie on each of the first two playoff holes (No. 18 twice) to defeat Hoffman. Following his runner-up finish in 2023, became the first player to finish runner-up and win the same event the following year since Tony Finau won the 2023 Mexico Open at Vidanta. Carded an 11-under 60 in the first round, his first score of 60 or better on the PGA Tour.
