Played in the 1989 U.S. Open and on national TV during the third round, holed a wedge on the 12th hole to get within one stroke of the lead. But he faltered, three putting the next hole for bogey and then adding bogeys at 15, 16 and a double bogey at 18...
Interesting story on how he qualified for the '93 open, in the local qualifier he birdied the 36th hole to get into a playoff and then birdied the first playoff hole to get into the sectional qualifier. In the sectional, he was in a 14 way playoff for seven spots and after three holes was forced to stop play because of darkness. The next morning he got into the U.S. Open when ROnnie Black made the first hole. He was already commited to play in the Cape Cod Open the same day and drove the four hours from Purchase New York, barley making his tee off time. With a good round in the first day and two under par for the 36 holes the next day, he won the Cape Cod Open to cap off a super week.
