Boo Weekley

Nicknamed Boo Boo Bear after cartoon hero Yogi Bear's sidekick, Weekley studied turfgrass science in college and later worked as a laborer at the Monsanto chemical plant in Pensacola, Florida. Wore rain pants because cotton pants gave him a rash. Played on the mini-tours in the late 1990s, winning several times on the DP Tour and the Emerald Coast Tour. Played high school golf with PGA Tour member Heath Slocum. Tour member Bubba Watson also attended and played golf at her high school. Slocum's father, Jack, who runs the DP Tour, served as his caddie during the finals of the qualifying tournament. At the end of 2001, he went to PGA Tour Q-school and finished T-23rd to get his card for the next season. On the 2002 PGA Tour, missed his first 10 cuts before finally cashing a paycheck with a T-19th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in late June, his best finish of the season. Made only five cuts and finished 200th on the money list.

2007 Notes: It was a banner year, as he won for the first time at the Heritage, finished second after losing a playoff at the Honda Classic, and collected five top-10 finishes to end the season 23rd on the money list.
2008 Notes: After playing with his mother in the pro-am, he successfully defended his Verizon Heritage title at Harbour Town, becoming the first back-to-back winner at the event since Davis Love III in 1991-'92. Made the cut in 19 of 24 starts, including a career-best 11 top-25 finishes.
2009 Notes: Made the cut 19 times in 22 starts, including one top-10 in his second start of the year, a T-9th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Forced to withdraw in the third round of the Players Championship in May because of a shoulder injury. Finished the year 85th on the money list.
2010 Notes: Had three top-10s, best was 9th at Crowne Plaza Colonial and Greenbrier Classic. Finished the year 111th on the money list.
2011 Notes: He struggled with injuries most of the season. He made only 11 of 23 cuts and failed to record a top-10 for the first time in his PGA Tour career. His only top-25 finish came in his second start of the season when he held a share of the 36-hole lead at the Bob Hope Classic after opening 65-66. He finished T-13th but was 180th on the money list for the year. Forced back to Q-School at the end of the year, he finished T-54th.
2012 Notes: Regained some of his magic from his earlier days on the PGA Tour, finished T-3rd in Puerto Rico, T-6th at RBC Heritage, and ended the year T-5th at Children's Miracle. Finished 123rd in the FedEx Cup standings and 108th on the money list.
2013 Notes: Won his third plaid jacket, but this time for his win in the Crowne Plaza Colonial. Started his solid play in Puerto Rico with a T-8th, then finished 2nd at Tampa Bay Championship the next week. Had another top-10 with a T-6th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Finished the year 29th in the FedExCup standings and 22nd on the money list. His earnings of $2,786,662 was his career best and the third time he has gone over the $2 million mark for a year.
2014 Notes: After a slow start in which he didn't get his first top-25 finish until his 13th start when he finished T-5th at the HP Byron Nelson where he fired a 9-under par. For the year, made 16 of 24 cuts with just that one top-ten. Finished T-61st at The Barclays but failed to advance to the second FedExCup Playoffs event. Completed his season at 111th in the final FedExCup standings and 112 on the money list.
2015 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour events, making 16 cuts with six top-ten finishes. He was 76 in the FedEx Cup standings and 57th on the money listing with earnings of $1,689,914. Posted a bogey-free, 6-under 66 in the final round to claim a T-2nd at the Sanderson Farms Championship in November 2014. In mid-December 2014, at the Australian PGA Championship, held the first-round lead after opening with a 66. Settled on a solo-6th finish. Finished T-7th at the Humana Challenge in January, with rounds of 70-66-67-65. Was T-6th at the Puerto Rico Open. Following an opening round, 8-under 64 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, was tied for the lead with Brendon de Jonge. Ensuing rounds of 70-69-65 resulted in a 3rd-place finish. Tied his record for most top-10s in a season by finishing T-8th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, his fifth top-10 of the season. He closed with a final round, 5-under 65. Kept adding top-10s as he finished T-6th at the Barbasol Championship, with rounds of 67-69-68-67. At the FedEx Cup playoffs, he missed the cut at the Barclays, and T-56th at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
2016 Notes: He played in 26 PGA Tour events, making 15 cuts and two top-ten finishes. He was 114th in the FedEx Cup standings and 107th on the money list with earnings of $991,660. He was T-10th at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba and 5th at the WM Phoenix Open. He made it to what is now his last FedEx Cup playoffs, missing the cut at The Barclays.
2017 Notes: This would be his last full-time year on the PGA Tour. He played in 27 events, making 11 cuts with one top-ten finish. He was 169th in the FedEx Cup standings and 162nd on the money list with earnings of $16,929. His best finish was T-5th at the Travelers Championship. Weekley was initially sidelined with tendonitis in his right elbow in 2017, which led to surgery. But in his comeback from that injury, doctors discovered cancer in Weekley's shoulder. The second procedure to remove a cyst that had filled with fluid in that area kept him from hitting balls until November of 2018.
Between 2019 and 2023, in preparation for the Champions Tour, he played in 25 Korn Ferry events. He made six cuts, best finishing T-10th at the 2019 Chitimacha Louisiana Open.
2023 Notes: He returned to professional golf on his 50th birthday on the Champions Tour. His first event finished T-66th at the Boeing Classic. Played in eight PGA Tour Champions events, best finish was T-20th at the SAS Champions. Finished 104th on the money list with $61,787 in earnings. In the final stage of thee qualifying tournament finished T-53rd.
2024 Notes: Best finish T-12th at the Invited Celebrity Classic.
