Brandon Hagy

Played college golf at the University of California. He is really good at ping pong. Hagy credits a lot of his athletic swing to playing a lot of football and basketball growing up. One of those cousins, Ryan Capretta, founded his own performance institute after previously serving as a strength and conditioning coach for the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Pepperdine, and Stanford. Went to high school at Westlake Village and also played basketball. Amateur victories: 2009 Christmas Classic, 2011 San Francisco City Amateur, 2011 New Year's Invitational, 2012 State Fair Amateur. Also has three top-15s at Trans-Mississippi Championship: T-7th (2010), T-15th (2011), T-8th (2013). Reached the semifinals of 2012 U.S. Amateur. Was the first alternate on the 2013 Walker Cup. Made it to the Round of 64 at the 2014 British Amateur.
After he graduated he turned pro. He had a tough decision between playing golf or joining a private equity firm. In 2014 played in three events on the Korn Ferry Tour, making the cut once, T-40th at the Nova Scotia Open. Tried to get on the Korn Ferry Tour but did not advance to the final stage, so has no status for 2015.
2015 Notes: Was able to Monday qualify and got local invites playing in eight PGA Tour events. Made two cuts, T-34th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am and T-16th at the Puerto Rico Open. Did qualify and play in his first major, missing the cut at the U.S. Open. Played in seven Korn Ferry Tour events making four cuts, best finish T-19th at the Brasil Champions. Went to Korn Ferry Q-School to get status for 2016.
2016 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 19; in money - 11; top-10 finishes - 5; scoring average 69.38 (ranked 11th); money $158,966 (ranked 19th); Korn Ferry Tour finals money $19,000 (ranked 44th), Priority rank 41; Best finish, T-3rd at the Ellie Mae Classic. Also 4th at the Air Capital Classic one shot back of the Schniederjans/Morikawa/Spaun playoff. Secured his PGA Tour card for the 2016-17 season with a 19th-place finish on the 2016 Korn Ferry Tour Regular Season money list. Played twice on the PGA Tour T-43rd at the Farmers Insurance Open and T-69th at the Valspar Championship.
2017 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour events making 17 cuts with one top-ten finish. Was 113th on the FedExCup points list. Was T-5th at the RBC Canadian Open three shots back of the Vegas/Hoffman playoff. With his finish worked his way into the top-125 of the FedExCup list In the FedExCup playoffs missed the cut at the Northern Trust. That event was his eighth straight and during play had pain in his left wrist. He immediately went to a doctor who said there was no structural damage but needed to rest the wrist.
2018 Notes: He took three weeks off after the Northern Trust and showed up in Napa for the Safeway Open. Unfortunately, he still had pain in the wrist and withdrew, not playing for three more weeks. He made his first start at the Sanderson Farms Championship finishing T-18th, but the pain was still there. Played in the Shriners Hospitals finishing T-41st and after missing the cut at the Mayakoba Classic and on doctors' orders didn't touch a club for eight weeks. He started to practice for the Career Builders in Palm Springs but the pain was still there. After taking a CAT scan doctors told him it could get worst so he shut things down. In the time off he spent a lot of time in the gym and also worked on the mental side of his game. Originally Doctors told him that he needed to take two to three months off. Hagy didnâ??t start hitting balls again until April 15, and it took him six weeks to work his way up to swinging driver. Since he was given a major medical exemption he realized he had some time on the PGA Tour but decided since he could play up to five Korn Ferry events before playing the PGA Tour he would go that route. So his first start was the Rest-Oleum Championship in June. He played well, even with a final round 75 finished T-48th. His next start was the Wichita Open and Hagy shot rounds of 71-65-67-63 to find himself in a playoff with Scott Pinckney and Brady Schnell. On the first hole of the playoff, Schnell, and Hagy each birdied eliminating Pinckney. On the second hole, Schnell made another birdie to beat Hagy. Still, it was a promising accomplishment and Hagy didn't have any pain. His next start at the Ellie Mae Classic, Hagy shot 64 in the final round to finish T-4th. In his final Korn Ferry start, he missed the cut at the WinCo Foods Portland Open.
2019 Notes: So he returned to the PGA Tour at the Safeway Open, but missed the cut at the start of what would be a terrible year. In 13 PGA Tour starts, missed the cut in 12 of them. His only cut was a T-66th finish at Farmers Insurance. During the year he did suffer pain in his back but still played in the Korn Ferry Tour playoffs. After missing the cut at the Knoxville Open was T-5th at the Nationwide Children's and was T-2nd at the Albertsons Boise Open finishing a shot back of winner Matthew NeSmith. Was 3rd on the Finals points list which got him back to the PGA Tour for 2020.
2020 Notes: The back grew worst as he missed his first four cuts and was forced to withdraw from the Houston Open. Things got a bit better but he was only able to play in 17 events and he made eight cuts. His best finish was T-12th at the Barracuda Championship. He finished 152nd in the FedExCup points list.
2021 Notes: The back got better and he finished T-67th in his first start at Safeway. But missed the cut in five of his next six starts when he showed up at the American Express. Shot 64 to lead after the first round and went on to finish T-21st. Got into the Honda Classic field as the last alternate the day prior to the first round. Shot 69-62 to go into the weekend in contention, then with rounds of 76-66 finished 2nd, his second career top-ten, and best finish on Tour all on his 30th birthday.
