Brett Stegmaier

Grew up in Connecticut, and attended the Travelers Championship as a youngster. Went to Florida and was the 2003 and 2006 Southeastern Conference individual champion? Second-team All-America selection in 2006. Since graduating from Florida in 2006, Stegmaier spent most of his time competing on various mini-tours. At the end of each season, he would pay to enter the three-stage PGA Tour Qualifying school. One year, he fell short of the final stage by one shot, which didn?t get him any status on the Web.com Tour. So it was back to the mini-tours and attempting to qualify for both PGA and Web.Com tour events.
"I've thought about quitting a bunch," said Stegmaier, who put his playing career on hold in 2010 when he took an assistant's job in Connecticut. "I had already decided if I didn't make it to final stage (of Q-school) this year, I knew I'd have to find a 'real' job. Another problem was dealing with wrist problems, having surgery on his left wrist twice over the course of six years."
After rehabbing from his second left wrist surgery last spring and summer of 2009, Stegmaier played twice on the Tarheel Tour, the last time shooting a pair of 77s. It looked like the end of the line. "It was a very easy decision," said Stegmaier. "I was really sick of playing at that point and was really low on money (for not having played for four months)."
Stegmaier was close to giving up his dream of making the PGA Tour at the end of 2012 but finally made it to the final stage of PGA Tour Q-School. He finished T-73rd which gave him access to the Web.com Tour in 2013.
2013 Web.com Summary: Tournaments entered - 24; in money - 13; top-10 finishes - 2; scoring average 70.73 (ranked 71st); money $98,490 (ranked 65th); best finish T-6th Brasil Classic & Midwest Classic. So it's back to the Web.com for another year to try and achieve his dream of making the PGA Tour.
In 2014 after missing the cut in his first four Web.com Tour starts, found himself in a playoff at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. Lost on the third hole to Kris Blanks, but the runner-up was his career best showing.
