Christian Cevaer

Born on the island of New Caledonia, became world junior champion at 17 and took a scholarship at Stanford University in California. A radical swing change at the end of 1998 saw him struggle in 1999 but reaped the benefit in 2000 with eighth place in the Challenge Tour Rankings, due mainly to winning the Finnish Masters. Played only six events as a result of a skiing accident in which he fractured his right elbow joint and damaged ligaments and tendons. But showed he had recovered fully when he claimed his maiden European Tour title in the 2004 Open de España, on his way to a career-best 41st on the Order of Merit. Best performance in 2006 was fourth place in The KLM Open which helped him to 90th place on the Order of Merit.
