Christian Cevaer

Born on the island of New Caledonia, he attended the Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California.
He became the world junior champion at 17 and took a scholarship at Stanford University in California. He won the 1989 French Amateur Championship.
Cevaer turned professional in 1993. He has spent most of his professional career playing on the European Tour. Inconsistent form has necessitated several trips to the European Tour Qualifying School.
A radical swing change at the end of 1998 saw him struggle in 1999 but reaped the benefit in 2000 with eighth place in the Challenge Tour Rankings, due mainly to winning the Finnish Masters. He played only six events due to a skiing accident in which he fractured his right elbow joint and damaged ligaments and tendons. But showed he had recovered fully when he claimed his maiden European Tour title in the 2004 Canaria Open.
He won his second European Tour title in 2009 at the European Open at The London Golf Club, beating a field containing 25 of the worldâ??s top 50. His first victory came five years previously, at the 2004 Open de Espana, and followed a year of injury problems after he fractured his right elbow and damaged ligaments and tendons in a skiing accident in 2002. He played in 2003 on a medical exemption and eventually rediscovered his form, finishing a career-best 41st on the 2004 Order of Merit. However, his elbow problems resurfaced in 2012, limiting him to ten events, meaning he will play the 2013 season on a Medical Extension Category. He played in 427 European Tour events making 193 cuts with 13 top-ten finishes. He won twice at the 2004 Canaria Open and 2009 European Open. He earned euro3,185,902 in his 23-plus years on the European Tour. His best year-end ranking on the Order of Merit has been 41st in 2004.
2021 Notes: Played in 8 Legends Tour events. He was 40th in the order of merit. Best finish T-17th at the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship.
2022 Notes: Played in 14 Legends Tour events with four top-ten finishes. He was 19th in the order of merit. Finished 8th four times at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open, JCB Championship, Staysure PGA Seniors Championship, and Farmfoods European Senior Masters.
2023 Notes: Finished T-34th at the Riegler & Partner Legends.
