David Eger

Had a stellar amateur career, winning the 1988 U.S. Mid-Amateur at Prairie Dunes C.C. in Hutchinson, Kan., with a 2 & 1 victory over Scott Mayne in the final. Played on the 1989, 1991 and 2001 USA Walker Cup Teams.
In 75 PGA Tour events between 1979 and 1981, best finish was a tie for fifth at the 1979 American Optical Classic.
Following that finish, he became a reinstated amateur and worked at the PGA Tour from 1982-1992 as a rules official and director of tournament administration. In 1992, transferred to the USGA, where he was senior director of rules and competition until 1995. He then returned to the PGA Tour as vice president of competition until 1996. Turned professional again in 2001.
2011 Notes: Recovered from an ankle injury during the summer of 2010 to post his highest finish on a single-season money list (14th) with earnings of $982,904, which proved to be his best season financially in nine fully-exempt years on the Champions Tour. Won the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf with Mark McNulty and was runner-up at the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, where he fell to Tom Watson in a one-hole playoff at Valhalla Golf Club. . . Also was runner-up at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach.
2012 Notes: Failed to finish inside the top 30 for just the third time in the last 10 years when he slipped from 14th to 34th on the final money list. Was on the leader board all three rounds at the Toshiba Classic before eventually finishing T-5th in Newport Beach, his best showing of the season.
2013 Notes: Failed to finish inside the top 50 on the money list for the first time in his career since becoming a full-time competitor on Tour in 2003, finishing 51st. His two top-10 finishes both came in the spring. Was T-8th at the Insperity Championship, a month later posted another T-7th finish at The Principal Charity Classic.
2014 Notes: Only played in six events, best finish was t-37th at the ACE Group Classic. Tried to regain his Champions Tour status at Q-School but withdrew after three rounds.
2015 Notes: Made one start finishing T-65th at the ACE Group Classic.
