David Howell

In 2012, finished 62nd in The Race to Dubai to shake off the frustration of a succession of injuries over the previous few seasons. A share of fourth place finish in the Alstom Open de France was the highlight of that season, although he was bitterly disappointed to just miss out on the season-ending DP Tour World Championship in Dubai, as the emirate is his home for half the year. In 2006, at the HSBC Champions he out-scored playing partner Tiger Woods, before capturing the BMW PGA Championship, becoming the first English winner of the event since Nick Faldo in 1989. Also was ranked in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Rankings with those wins in 2006.
Made his Ryder Cup debut in 2004, when he produced the European Tour?s Shot of the Year at Oakland Hills, a six iron to five feet on the par three 17th hole that helped secure a vital point. Also played on the European Ryder Cup team in 2006. Competed in the U.S. Open in 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2011, only making the cut once in 2006 when he finished T16th.
As an amateur, won the British Boys Championship in 1993 and was part of the 1995 Walker Cup victory at Royal Porthcawl. Collected his first professional victory in November 1998 when he won the Australian PGA Championship by seven strokes, three months before his maiden European Tour win at the 1999 Dubai Desert Classic.
2012 Notes: In 27 starts made 20 cuts, with two top-tens, T4th at French Open and T5th at Handa Perth International.
2013 Notes: Played in 30 events making 25 cuts and having six top-tens. Won for the fifth time on the European Tour at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He finished 21st in the Race to Dubai with euro1,158,049.
2014 Notes: played in 27 events and was in the money 18 times, his two top-tens were 2nd at the Italian Open and T-9th at the Nordea Masters. Was 27th in the Race to Dubai.
2015 Notes: His best year on tour since 2006, he played in 30 events making 22 cuts. Had 7 top-tens including three runner-up finishes at the Joburg Open, Volvo China Open and Open de Espana. Was 3rd at the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play, beat Marc Warren 1 up in the consolation match. Finished 26th in the Race to Dubai.
2016 Notes: Has gotten off to a slow start, best finish is T-13th in the Joburg Open, his only top-25 finish for the year.
