David Lynn

Lynn won the 1994 Greek Amateur Championship, where he finished eight shots ahead of David Howell. He turned professional in 1995. Lynn has won three times in his professional career, first at the 1997 Team Erhverv Danish Open on the Challenge Tour, then at the 2004 KLM Open, followed by the 2013 Portugal Masters on the European Tour. Produced a remarkable performance at the 2012 PGA Championship ? the second major appearance of his career ? by finishing runner-up to Rory McIlroy thanks to weekend rounds of 68. The $865,000 prize money was by far the biggest check of his career and also helped him finish a personal-best 18th in The Race to Dubai. His good luck started when he barely got an invite to the PGA Championship when he worked his way to 98th in the World Ranking. His finish helped him win enough money to get membership onto the PGA Tour for 2013.
Has played on the European Tour since 1996. 2012 marked the 13th consecutive season he has finish in the top 90 of the money list. First European Tour victory came at the 2004 KLM Open, a week after he lost a lucky Wedgwood China ball marker that he had used for 10 years. Often consulted a series of famous quotations to inspire him, but ultimately put his victory down to a different token of luck, an 1891 ?Queen?s Shilling? which soldiers were handed when going to war. It was given to him by his father. Won his card through the Challenge Tour in 1997, but missed eight cuts by just one shot to lose it. Regained the card through a strong performance at the Qualifying School in 1999 and has not looked back since.
2013 Notes: Was one of only five players to post a sub-70 score (69) in the final round at The Honda Classic, resulting in a T-4th finish with four others. Lost in a playoff at the Wells Fargo Championship when Derek Ernst made a par on the first playoff hole. Finished the PGA Tour 48th in the FedExCup race and 53rd on the money list. Ended a nine-year wait for a second European Tour title at the Portugal Masters in October. Entered the final round six shots off the lead, but an 8-under-par 63 gave him a one-shot victory. Finished the year 45th in The Race to Dubai.
