Had to retain his playing privileges for 2013 at the Qualifying School Final Stage after finishing 123rd in The 2012 Race to Dubai, four spots from safety. Led after four rounds at PGA Catalunya Resort and eventually took the fourth card. Made his breakthrough in the 2009 Madeira Islands Open, where he survived problems late in the round to triumph by one shot and collect the winner?s check for ?116,660.
Ended 2008 as winner of the Tour de las Americas Order of Merit at the age of 20. First rose to prominence at the end of 2007 when winning the Tour de las Americas Qualifying School by nine shots, in the process breaking Johnny Miller?s 32 year course record at the Bonaventure Country Club in Florida with a sublime round of 61. Won his third Challenge Tour appearance at the 77° Abierto VISA del Centro 2008 presentado por Personal. Ended the season in fifth place in the Rankings thanks largely to his victory at the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, where he birdied four of the last five holes to take the ?48,000 winner?s cheque.
By progressing from a leading player on the Tour de las Americas to a Challenge Tour graduate and now a European Tour champion, he has followed the well-worn path trodden by his compatriots and friends Rafa Echenique and Andres Romero.
