Jake Knapp

Knapp was born on May 31, 1994, in Costa Mesa, California to Jennifer and Robert Knapp. His older brother, Ryan, was a golfer at Orange Coast College and the University of California, Irvine. He played for four years of varsity golf for coach Art Perry at Estancia High School. He won the 2012 CIF Individual Sectional Championship with a score of 66 (-6). His earliest golf memory is watching Tiger Woods beat Stephen Ames, 9 and 8, at the 2006 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and having Woods' caddie, Steve Williams, toss him one of the balls from the match. The ball still sits displayed on his desk.He qualified for the 2015 U.S. Open as an amateur. Reached the Round of 16 at the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship at Olympia Fields Country Club, notably defeating Noah Goodwin in the Round of 64. Semifinalist at the 2015 Western Amateur; he was defeated by Aaron Wise.
Knapp turned professional in 2016. He played on the PGA Tour Canada from 2016 to 2019 and again in 2022, winning three times. He played on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2020, 2021, and 2023. He earned his 2024 PGA Tour card by finishing 13th on the Korn Ferry Tour points list in 2023.
2024 Notes: In just his seventh PGA Tour start and third after earning his PGA Tour card he finished T-3rd at the Farmers insuranace Open, two shots back of winner Matthiew Pavon. After finishin g T-28th at the Phoenix Open won the Mexico Open at Vidanta by two shots over Sami Valimaki, earning his first career PGA Tour victory in his ninth start at the age of 29 years, 8 months, 25 days.
