Ryan Moore

Moore says he learned the game from his father as soon as he could walk. Was a four-time All-America (two-time first-team) at UNLV and 2005 collegiate Player of the Year. Was three-time Ben Hogan Award finalist, 2005 Hogan Award winner and Jack Nicklaus Collegiate Player of the Year. Had the 2005 Golfstat Cup low collegiate scoring average.
In 2004, won the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Amateur Public Links, NCAA Championship, Western Amateur, and Sahalee Players Championship. Captured the U.S. Amateur, 2-up, over Luke List at Winged Foot and won his second U.S. Amateur Public Links title, 6 & 5, over Dayton Rose at Rush Creek GC in Minnesota. A member of the 2004 USA World Amateur team, he was the low individual at the competition. Also won the 2002 U.S. Amateur Public Links, defeating Lee Williamson, 10 & 9. He was runner-up at the 2000 Junior Amateur, losing to Matthew Rosenfeld, 3 & 2. As reigning U.S. Amateur champion, earned an exemption into the 2005 Masters, U.S. Open at Pinehurst and the British Open (did not play at St. Andrews).
Was low amateur at the 2005 Masters, finishing T-13th at 1-under. His 287 total was the lowest for an amateur at the Masters since Lindy Miller shot 286 in 1978. Played at the U.S. Open, where he finished T-57th. The following week, turned professional at the Barclays Classic, where he finished T-5th. Posted a T-2nd result at the 2005 Bell Canadian Open, helping him earn enough money to become the first player since Tiger Woods in 1996 to go from college to the PGA Tour in the same season without a trip to Q-School.
Bothered by a hand injury early in his professional career, Moore's only win on the PGA Tour before 2012 came at the 2009 Wyndham Championship, when he surpassed $2 million in earnings, and finished 31st on the money list, along with six top-10s and nine top-25s.
2010 Notes: Surpassed $2 million again with earnings of $2,374,823 to finish 32nd on the money list with a runner-up at the AT&T National and a T-3rd at the BMW Championship. Finished the year with 10 top-25s.
2011 Notes: Made 18 of 22 cuts to go with four top-10s and nine top-25s. Made it through three FedExCup Playoff events, finishing 37th on the points list and 42nd on the money list with earnings of $1.9 million. The sixth consecutive year with earnings over the $1-million mark.
2012 Notes: Finished a career-best 11th in the FedExCup standings and 26th on the money list with earnings of $2,858,944. Had eight top-10s, recorded his second PGA Tour win at Justin Timberlake in his hometown of Las Vegas. Twelve days later, his wife Nichole delivered the couple's first child, son Tucker.
2013 Notes: Recorded three top-10s: 4th at Waste Management Phoenix Open, T-6th at Wells Fargo and T-7th at the Travelers Championship. For the year, was 51st in the FedExCup standings and 61st on the money list.
2014 Notes: Won his third PGA Tour title at age 30 years, 10 months, 22 days in a sudden-death playoff over Gary Woodland at the CIMB Classic. Had a great start to the year on the PGA Tour, finishing in the top-10 in four of his first six starts, including the win at CIMB and a T-6th finish at Phoenix. Earned his fifth top-10 at the Travelers Championship with a T-5th, and his sixth with a T-7th at the John Deere Classic. Finished T-12th at the British Open. Posted three additional top-10s: T-5th at the Travelers, T-7th at John Deere, and T-8th at WGC-Bridgestone. Played in the FedExCup Playoffs for an eighth consecutive year. Advanced through the first three events, finishing 39th in the FedExCup standings and 21st on the money list.
2015 Notes: Defended his CIMB Classic title by shooting a final-round 67 to defeat Kevin Na by three shots. After rounds of 66-71, entered the weekend of the WGC-Cadillac Championship trailing J.B. Holmes by two shots and in 2nd place. Struggled on the weekend in difficult conditions, shooting rounds of 74-76 to finish T-9th. The next week, led going into the final round of the Valspar Championship, shot 72 and finished 5th, two shots out of the playoff. Finished T-12th at the Masters, but missed the cut at the U.S. Open, which was played in the area where he was raised. Also missed the cut at the British Open. Finished T-37th at the PGA Championship. Ended the year 39th in the FedExCup standings and 32nd on the money list.
2016 Notes: Started the year with a T-10th at the Frys.com Open. In going for the three-peat at the CIMB Classic, finished T-10th. Was also 10th at the Northern Trust and 3rd at the Valspar Championship, two shots short of the playoff. At the WGC-Dell Match Play, lost in the quarterfinals (T-5th) to Rafael Cabrera-Bello, 2 & 1. For the next 20 weeks, had some up-and-down results. Going into the John Deere Classic was 62nd in the FedExCup standings. He shot three rounds of 65 and, with a final-round 67, nailed down a two-shot win over Ben Martin. The victory put him on a roll. After finishing T-53rd at the Wyndham Championship, he placed T-7th at the Barclays, T-8th at the Deutsche Bank, and T-64th at the BMW Championship. At the Tour Championship, shot a final-round 64 to move into a three-way playoff with Rory McIlroy and Kevin Chappell. After Chappell dropped out with a par at the first extra hole, Moore made three additional pars and fell to Rory McIlroy's birdie at the fourth extra hole. With the runner-up result, he finished 7th in the FedExCup standings. The disappointment of the loss was replaced with joy as Ryder Cup captain gave Moore the last spot in the Ryder Cup matches. Making his first start at the Ryder Cup, went 2-1 in his three matches at Hazeltine. The week was highlighted by his 1-up victory over Lee Westwood in singles for the clinching point in the 17-11 U.S. victory.
2017 Notes: In his fourth start of the year, he had a T-3rd finish at the SBS Tournament of Champions, six shots behind winner Justin Thomas. His second top-10 was T-9th at the Masters, where was in the running at the start of the final round, but shot a 74 to drop back. Was supposed to play in the U.S. Open but withdrew citing a shoulder injury. Took six weeks off and returned to the John Deere Classic, missing the cut in both the Deere and British Open. Ended the season 64th in the FedExCup standings, marking the 10th time in the 11-year history of the FedExCup that he has advanced at least to the third playoffs event, the BMW Championship.
2018 Notes: Has played in 22 PGA Tour events making 17 cuts with five, top-ten finishes. T-6th at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, also T-9th at the Genesis Open, T-5th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and 7th at the Valero Texas Open. Ended the year with a T-6th finish in the Wyndham Championship, he was 71st in the FedExCup standings.
2019 Notes: Played in 22 PGA Tour events making 15 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was 48th in the FedExCup standings. Started the year with a T-2nd finish at the Safeway Open, Moore lost in a three-man playoff with Kevin Tway winning. Was 3rd at the Valero Texas Open, he was three shots back of winner Corey Conners. In the FedExCup Playoffs was T-18th at the Northern Trust and T-37th at the BMW Championship.
2020 Notes: Played in 16 PGA Tour events making nine cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was 103rd in the final FedExCup standings. T-8th at the CJ Cup@Nine Bridges. At the American Express was T-6th. After the break, T-12th at the 3M Open and Barracuda Championship.
2021 Notes: Going into the John Deere Classic his best finish was T-26th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. At the John Deere Clasic with rounds of 65-66-68-68 finished T-2nd, two shots back of winner Lucas Glover. It was his best finish since he was runner-up in the 2019 Safeway Open. With the good finish claimed the last berth in the Open Championship at Royal St. George's. Last time he played in the Open Championship finished T-12th in 2018 at Carnoustie. He played in the last Open at St. George's in 2011 finishing T-28th.
