Ted Potter, Jr.

Potter plays golf left-handed. Father got him started in the game at age 2. Turned professional in 2002, and started playing on the Moonlight Tour in Florida. At the end of 2003, finished T-74th at PGA Tour Q-School, which got him on the Web.com Tour in 2004, where he missed the cut in all 24 events he played. Spent the next two years playing mini-tour events and the Hooters Tour. In 2006, was the Hooters Tour Player of the Year and led that tour's money list with $102,609 and two wins. He became the first player on that tour to make over $100,000. Later that year, he finished T-64th at PGA Tour Q-School. He played on the Web.com Tour in 2007, where he made only three cuts in 20 starts.
It was back to the mini-tour and Hooters Tour in 2008 and '09, where he again was named the Hooters Tour Player of the Year. Won three times (Amelia Island Plantation Classic, Gold Strike Casino Golf Classic and Buffalo Run Casino Classic). Later that year, finished T-109th at PGA Tour Q-School and returned to the 2010 Web.com Tour where he made three cuts in 11 starts.
Everything clicked in 2011, finishing 2nd on the Web.com Tour money list with two victories. In 18 starts, had six top-10 finishes, which is how many cuts he made in three previous years on the tour.
2012 Notes: Entered the final round of the Greenbrier Classic trailing Webb Simpson by four strokes before a 6-under 64 (including a birdie-par-eagle-birdie finish) left him tied with Troy Kelly at 16-under 264. A birdie at the third playoff hole (the par-3 18th) gave him his first-career PGA Tour win. Entering the event, he only had one top-25 finish and was 164th on the money list and 172nd in the FedExCup standings. After the victory, he climbed to 42nd in the money race and 51st in the standings. Played in two FedExCup Playoff events, finishing the year 62nd in earnings and 93rd in the standings.
2013 Notes: Played in 22 PGA Tour events, making 11 cuts and finishing in the top-10 twice. Best finish was T-6th while defending his Greenbrier Classic title, and T-10th at the Northern Trust Open. Was 105th in the FedExCup standings and 100th on the money list.
2014 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour events, making nine cuts. Didn't have a top-10. Best finish was T-13th at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. Was 154th in the FedExCup standings and 160th on the money list. After missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open, he fell outside his hotel in Montreal and broke his ankle. The injury required surgery and caused him to miss the 2015 season.
2016 Notes: Didn't make another start until the United Leasing & Finance Open in May on the Web.com Tour. Played in 14 events on that tour. His best finish was T-4th at the WinCo Foods Portland Open. Played twice on the PGA Tour, missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open and Travelers Championship. Played in three Web.com finals, making the cut in all three. Finished 54th on the Priority list.
