Saved the best until last in 2011, winning the season-ending Dubai World Championship presented by DP World in thrilling fashion. Leading by one from Paul Lawrie on the 72nd hole, he ripped his second shot on the par five to 40ft and holed the monster eagle putt to seal the finest win of his career. That was his second Dubai victory of the season following his Omega Dubai Desert Classic triumph, where he had a hole-in-one in the final round, and he finished the season a career-best sixth in The Race to Dubai. Was a very different story in 2012 when he had to settle for 73rd place in The Race to Dubai. His barren 2012 brought to an end a run which had seen him win in each season since joining The European Tour in 2007, his first victory coming in his debut appearance as a full Member, at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The rest of that season was blighted by damaged tendons and ligaments in his left wrist, an injury which sidelined him for five months. Standing at six feet three inches tall, he is one of the longest hitters on Tour and topped the Driving Distance Category in the Genworth Financial Statistics in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and 2011. Coached by former Ryder Cup player and four-time European Tour champion, José Rivero, whom he cites as one of the biggest influences on his career.
In 2013 finished T5th in the Irish Open which was his best finish since his T5th in the 2012 Volvo World Match Play and his Dubai World Championship win in 2011.
