Craig Parry

Parry was born in Sunshine, Victoria, Australia, he took up the game at age 5 at Melton Valley Golf Club outside of Victoria. By the time he was 14 he was a 14 hanicap and became scratch by the time of his 17 birthday. In December of 1985 a month short of his 20th birthday turned pro.
He has played around the world, joining the Australian Tour in 1986. then the European Tour in 1988. Played on that tour until 1991 when he joined the PGA Tour. In 134 starts won six times in Europe including for the first time at the Wang For Stars in 1989. He also had six runner-ups and was third, three times as he won euros4,057,138. This opened the door to him playing in major championships in the United States and he joined the PGA Tour in 1992. Played full time until 2006, he played in 306 events and won twice at the 2002 World Golf Championships-NEC Invitational, then the 2004 Ford Championship at Doral. On the PGA Tour he made 213 cuts and was in the top-ten 38 times winning $8,481,456. When he lost his PGA Tour card after the 2006 season played on the Japanese Tour between 2007 and 2010. Always has played on the Australian Tour, he won the Australasia's Order of Merit in 1995, 2002 and 2007. He won three of Australia's top four tournaments, placing first at the Australian PGA Championship, New South Wales Open and the Australian Masters, a tournament he has won three times (in 1992, 1994 and 1996). In 2015 played in the three Australian majors, making the cut at the Australian PGA finishing T-38th.
Has the nickname Popeye because of his large forearms. Member of President Cup Team in 1994, '96 and '98. As he was getting older he started a golf course design firm which built three courses in Australia.
2016 Notes: Played in his first Champions Tour event at the Allianz Championship, finishing T-38th. His best finish this year was a T-29th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort. In 16 events he was 90th on the money list and Schwab Rankings.
