Green is of Portuguese, Irish and Chinese descent.
He played college golf at the University of New Mexico where he won eight times and was a multiple-time All-American and Mountain West Conference golfer of the year.
Gavin became the first amateur to win on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) following his victory in the 2014 PGM Vascory Templer Park Championship. He dedicated his win in Chinese Taipei to his late grandfather, who passed away from a heart attack the week before.
Turned pro in 2015 and played most of the year on the Asian Development Tour, in 2015 he finished 2nd at the PGM Northport Galenite Championship.
2016 Notes: Played most of his events on the Asian Development Tour playing in 19 events. He had 10 top-ten finishes including two wins at the PGM Northport Glenmarie Championship and the ICTSI Manila Southwoods Championship in the Philippines. Gavin finished a career-high second place on the 2016 ADT Order of Merit to earn his Asian Tour card for 2017. Gavin also represented his country at the prestigious 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro alongside Danny Chia, a two-time Asian Tour winner.
2017 Notes: Played in 18 events and he claimed his maiden Asian Tour title at the 2017 Mercuries Taiwan Masters, after notching four top-10 results earlier in the year, including three runner-up finishes in India, Chinese Taipei, and Korea. He became the first Malaysian to win the Asian Tour Order of Merit in 2017, with total earnings of US$582,463.
2018 Notes: Has played mostly on the European Tour, he was T-8th at the SMBC Singapore Open his only top-ten finish.
