His full Korean name is Kim Kyung-tae.
His father, Ki-Chang Kim, is a teaching professional, who got him started in the game at age 10. Captured the Korean Amateur and Japan Amateur in 2006 and won two Korean Tour events as an amateur before turning pro late in the year. Won the 2007 Maekyung Open in his second start on the Asian Tour and also scored a Korean Tour win that year. Played on the 2011 Presidents Cup team. In a span of two years, has won eight times on the Japan Golf Tour.
