Zander Lombard

Started playing golf at a young age, since he was 10 has been coached by Llewellyn van Leeuwen. He has also been a part of the high-performance center at the University of Pretoria which has been an important part of developing his career. Lost the 2014 British Amateur at Royal Porters 2 & 1 to Bradley Neil. Represented South Africa at the 2012 and 2014 Eisenhower Trophy.
2015 Notes: After turning pro played a combination of African Tour events and Challenge Tour, His best finish was 3rd at the Vodacom Origins of Golf and 4th at the Australian PGA Championship.
2016 Notes: Got his best finish as a professional at the Joburg Open finishing 2nd. That got him his spot in the Open Championship (finished T-66th). In June finished 5th at the Lyoness Open. For the year played in 13 events on the European Tour and made the cut in 9 of them. Had 4 top-tens, his best was his runner-up at the Joburg Open. Was also 4th at the Australian PGA Championship and 5th at the Lyoness Open. For the year finished 115th in the Race to Dubai with Euro304,028.
2017 Notes: Played in 21 European Tour events making 11 cuts. Was in the top ten twice, best finish was 2nd at the Rocco Forte Open and T-5th at the Porsche European Open. Was 130th in the Race to Dubai with euro245,631.
2018 Notes: Has had a tough time since finishing T-65th at the NBO Open, missed the cut in 10 of his next 11 starts. He broke the streak with a T-6th finish in the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open which got him the spot to play his 2nd Open Championship where he finished T-67th. A month later on the Sunshine Tour won the Vodacom Origins (Zebula) and with a T-4th at the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final went on to win the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit.
2019 Notes: Played in 28 European Tour events making 16 cuts with four top-ten finishes. Was 59th in the Race to Dubai Was T-3rd at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and T-2nd in the RAM Cape Town Open. Also on the Sunshine tour was T-37th at the Dimension Data Pro-am and T-38th at the Tour Championship. Went into a stretch on the European Tour in which he didn't make a check-in his next 7 starts, but broke out of that streak with a T-9th at the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open. Was T-7th at the Open de Espana and ended his year with a T-8th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
2020 Notes: Played in 19 Euroepean Tour events making ten cuts with one top-ten finish. Was 105 in the Race to Dubai. Was T-7th in his season opening Alfred Dunhill Championship. He ended his year missing the cut at the South African Open.
2021 Notes: Played in 28 European Tour events making 11 cuts with no top-tens. Was 156th in the Race to Dubai. His best finish was T-20th at the Canary Islands Championship.
2022 Notes: Opened his year finishing 2nd at the Joburg Open four shots back of winner Thriston Lawrence. The finish got him a spot in the Open Championship at St. Andrews. Was T-3rd at the Ras al Khaimah Classic six shots back of winner Ryan Fox. The next week was T-3rd again at the Bain's Whisky Cape Town Open, three shots back of winner J.C. Ritchie.
