Another son, John, is the head golf coach at Pepperdine, the 1997 NCAA men's golf champion, and a third son, Bryan, played golf at Oregon State...Daughter Lee Ann is an assistant to a publisher for an Italian children's book publishing company in Milan, Italy.
Was the first player in PGA Tour history to shoot 59, achieving that in June, 1977 (Chip Beck is the only other)... Winner 1966 PGA Championship, 1975 TPC, 1976 Western Open and 1979 Colonial Invitation... Member 1967 and 75 Ryder Cup teams... Suffered with inflammatory bowel disease from 1966 to 1980, which led to having an ileostomy, a surgical procedure in which much of the large intestine was removed...
