Antonio Garrido

From a golfing family, he picked up the game from his elder brother Patricio, and as a youth caddied at Madrid's Club de Campo. First attracted attention by winning the Castilla Tournament in 1966, he also won the tournament in 1983, 1988, 1989 and 1990. Garrido joined the PGA European Tour in 1969 and won a total of £471,835, with the highlight of his career coming in 1977 when along with Seve Ballesteros won the World Cup for Spain. Also played on the Ryder Cup that year. Upon turning 50 in 1994 Garrido joined the PGA European Senior tour and won the Scottish Seniors Open. Antonio's son Ignacio has taken over the family golfing reins, and today plays on the European Tour.
