Bobby Wadkins

Was eight years old when his father got him started in golf. Is 20 months younger than his brother, Lanny Wadkins. Was a two-time All-American selection. Competed on the PGA Tour between 1975 and 1998, in 713 starts was runner-up six times, 3rd, six times and finished in the top-10 50 times. He had earnings of $2.8 million. Will go down in the annuals of the PGA Tour as the player with the most starts without a victory.
Winner 1971 Virginia State Amateur, 1978 European Open, 1979 and '86 Dunlop Phoenix Open (Japan). Best PGA Tour finish was runner-up (1979 IVB Philadelphia Classic, lost playoff to Lou Graham and 1985 Sea Pines Heritage Classic, lost playoff to Bernhard Langer). Joined the Champions Tour after his 50th birthday in August of 2001 and won his first start at the Lightpath Long Island Open. That victory, at age 50 years, 10 days, made him the youngest player to win a Champions Tour event (later matched by Mark Wiebe who was the same age at 2007 SAS Championship).
Has played on the Champions Tour since 2001, in 285 starts finished in the top-ten, 41 times. Won four times with eight runner-up finishes and three third place finishes. Has career earnings of $6.9 million.
2011 Notes: Made 21 starts and did not register a top-25 Champions Tour finish for the first time in his career. Best performance came during the summer when he was T-27 at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open after being four strokes off the pace after 36 holes.
2012 Notes: Played in 19 Champions Tour events, his lowest since joining the circuit midway through the 2001. Lone top-25 finish was a T13th at the Insperity Championship. Performance at The Woodlands was his best effort on the Champions Tour since 2009 (T-11 at the Boeing Classic).
2013 Notes: Made a total of 20 starts during the season, with a T-26th at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf with partner Bob Gilder his best effort. Reached a career milestone when he made his 1,000th career start (combined PGA Tour and Champions Tour), at the Senior PGA Championship in St. Louis in May. Became the 15th player to accomplish that feat.
2014 Notes: Played another busy schedule, with 21 starts. Had his best finish in June when he teamed with Bob Gilder for a T-23rd finish at the Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf.
2015 Notes: Posted his first top-10 finish since his T-9th at the 2009 Toshiba Classic when he and teammate Bob Gilder were T-5th at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf in April.
