While at Mater Dei High School in California, Campbell won the AJGA Mission Hills Desert Junior event and placed in the top-20 in three other AJGA events. He was ranked No. 88 in the Nation's Junior Rankings by Golfweek.
During his freshman year at Illinois, he finished fourth on the team in stroke average at 74.48 and placed in the top-20 at three events. He tied for 15th at the Big Ten Championship (+11) where he helped the Illini win their fourth-straight Big Ten Title.
As a sophomore, he defeated the collegiate player of the year, Michael Kim, 2 and 1, in the NCAA Semifinal match. He tied for second at the Big Ten Championship (+1), earning a spot on the five-player All-Championship team. Named Second-Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Golfer of the Week once, he had four top-10 finishes and qualified for the 2013 U.S. Amateur.
As a junior, Campbell led the team with a 70.81 stroke average and registered 13 rounds under par. Earned his first collegiate win at The Macdonald Cup, shattering Illinois' 54-hole record with a 13-under par, which was also the second-best score in Big Ten History. Named Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week after he was runner-up at the USF Invitational (-15). In his senior season (2014-15) he posted the second best stroke average on the team and recorded the third win of his collegiate career at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
When he's not playing golf, Campbell enjoys playing soccer, basketball, going to the beach and fishing. He is majoring in business at Illinois and says his 'dream foursome' would include Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy.
