Caroline Hedwall

Started playing golf at age 8. She is the daughter of Yvonne and Claes Hedwall. She has a twin sister, Jacqueline, who is also a professional golfer. Hedwall attended Oklahoma State University but was also recruited by Duke, Arizona, LSU, New Mexico, and Purdue.
Hedwall enjoyed a successful amateur career. While at Oklahoma State, she was the 2010 NCAA individual champion, 2010 NGCA player of the year, 2010 Golfstat Cup winner, 2009 and 2010 first-team All-American and 2009 and 2010 Big 12 Conference player of the year. She was a two-time European Ladies Amateur Team champion (2008, 2010), two-time European Ladies Amateur champion (2007, 2009), and a member of Sweden's team that won the 2008 World Amateur Team Championship in Australia.
In October 2010, she turned professional. Finished 38th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she earned Priority List Category 20 for the 2011 LPGA season. Played in six events on the LPGA Tour in 2011. On the Ladies European Tour, Hedwall began an incredible rookie season by winning the New South Wales Open on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf tour in her pro debut in January. She then won four titles on the Ladies European Tour, first at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open at Gray Bear Golf Club, followed by the Finnair Masters at Helsinki Golf Club, the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open at Golfclub Fohrenwaldh in Austria, and the Hero Women's Indian Open at DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon. Recorded four additional top-10 finishes: a tie for 2nd at the Deloitte Dutch Ladies Open, tied 7th at the DeutscheBank Ladies Swiss Open, tied 9th at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open, and tied 9th at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. She then collected the Player of the Year Award, as voted for by her fellow competitors, having ended the year ranked third on the LET's official Henderson Money List, behind Ai Miyazato and Melissa Reid, with season's earnings of 278,529 from 20 tournaments played. This award was launched in 1995, and Hedwall became the first player in LET history to win both this award and be named the Rolex Rookie of the Year in the same season. She also played a starring role on Europe's winning Solheim Cup team winning 2.5 points at Killeen Castle in Ireland with a 2-1-1 record.
In 2012, after missing two months with a hip injury, Hedwall returned and earned her fifth LET title when she successfully defended at the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open in Austria. She won by four strokes and ahead of Mikaela Parmlid and Laura Davies. She fired a career-low round of 10-under 62 during the second round of the Hero Women's Indian Open and almost successfully defended the title, but was bested by Pornanong Phatlum after hitting her approach shot into the water short of the green and ending in second place. Despite only playing in six tournaments throughout the season, Hedwall ended in 29th place on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit and 5th place on the European Solheim Cup rankings going into 2013. On the LPGA, she played in 18 events, 13 cuts made, $216,074 (57), and recorded 2 top-10 finishes and 6 top-12 finishes, including a career-best tie for 5th at the Kia Classic. Took several tournaments off in the summer due to her hip injury.
2013 Notes: Played in 23 LPGA events, making the cut 21 times. Her best finish was a tie for 3rd at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship. She also recorded four other top-10s. She finished 14th on the money list with $763,104 in earnings. On the Ladies European Tour, she played in six events, with the best finish of second at the Helsingborg Open. She earned yen 57,441, which placed her 34th on the Order of Merit. She competed on her second European Solheim Cup Team and became the first player in Solheim Cup history to post a 5-0-0 record.
2014 Notes: She was 46th on the LPGA money list and 36th in CME Points, with 14 cuts made in 18 starts. She posted her only top-10 of the season, a 2nd at the Reignwood LPGA Classic in China, two strokes back of winner Mirim Lee. She was the 54-hole co-leader with Stacy Lewis, but shot 73 in windy conditions Sunday to fall back. She was 43rd on the LET money list, playing in six events. Best finish was T-5th in the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters.
2015 Notes: Played in 18 events and made 10 cuts. Best finish was T-26th at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. Was 93rd on the money list with $98,117. On the LET played in 5 events, with best finish T-8th at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. She was a captain's pick on the European Solheim Cup team, and had a 1-3-0 record. She is a three-time member of the European Solheim Cup team (2011, 2013, 2015) with an 8-4-1 record.
2016 Notes: Played in 10 events on the LET and had 4 top-10 finishes, including runner-up efforts at the Sanya Ladies Open and Qatar Ladies Open. Was 8th on the Order of Merit with $110,095 in earnings. On the LPGA, she played in 18 events making six cuts. Best finish was 5th at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic. Was 93rd on the money list with $98,117 and 103rd in CME Points.
2017 Notes: Played in 19 LPGA events making 11 cuts. She was 12th at the Oates Victorian Open, her only LET start. Best finish on the LPGA, T-11th Kia Classic. Finished 92nd on the LPGA money list with $125,240
2018 Notes: Played in 17 LPGA events making 7 cuts with one top-ten, T-9th at the Marathon Classic. Was 104th on the money list with $96,188. Played in 10 LET events, and won the LaCoste Ladies Open de France. Was runner-up at the Estrella Damm Ladies Open and the Hero Women's Indian Open. Finished the season 4th on the LET money list with euro72,306.
2019 Notes: played in 12 LET events and recorded six top-five finishes to end sixth on the Order of Merit. Her best finish was T-2nd at the Lalla Meryem Cup, seven shots back of the winner Nuria Iturrioz. Represented Europe on the winning Solheim Cup team at Gleneagles for a 4th time, she lost in both of her matches, Nelly Korda beat her 2 up in the singles. Played in 13 LPGA Tour events, making 10 cuts. She was 88th on the money list with $154,094 in earnings and was 96 in CME points. Best finish T-12th at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, with partner Anna Nordqvist. She also was T-12th at the Volunteers of America Classic.
2020 Notes: Played in six LET events making four cuts. She was 17th in the Race to Costa Del Sol and was 14th on the money list with earnings of euro213,336. She was T-3rd at the Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic, a shot back of the Minjee Lee/Celine Boutier playoff. The next week was 3rd at the Saudi Ladies International, two shots back of the Emily Kristine Pedersen/Georgia Hall playoff. On the LPGA Tour, played in ten events and made the cut once, T-15th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
2021 Notes: Played in 13 LET events making 13 cuts. She was 35th in the Race to Costa Del Sol and was 42nd on the money list with earnings of euro56,140. Best finish, T-12th at the Investec SA Women's Open. Played in four LPGA events and didn't make a cut.
2022 Notes: Played in 18 LET events making 15 cuts with 7 top-ten finishes. She was 8th in the Race to Costa Del Sol and was 14th on the money list with earnings of euro213,3360. She was T-9th in the Aramco Team Series - London, T-8th at the Skafto Open and Aland 100 Ladies Open. She was 5th at the Lacoste Ladies Open De France, five shots back of the Ines Laklalech/Meghan MacLaren playoff. She finished T-2nd at the Hero Women's Indian Open, three shots back of the winner Olivia Cowan. Was 7th at the Aramco Team Series - Jeddah. Hedwall won the season-ending Andalucia Open De Espana and beat Morgane Metraux with a birdie on the third playoff hole.
2023 Notes: She was 5th at the Helsingborg Open, four shots back of the winner Lisa Pettersson. Shot 67-69 over the weekend to finish T-6th at the Freed Group Women's Scottish Open, five shots back of the winner Celine Boutier.
