Chip Beck

Started playing golf at age 10, when he attended a clinic that was given by the head professional at the Highland Golf Club in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Once he started to hit balls, he was hooked.
A journalism major at the University of Georgia, Beck enjoyed considerable success on the Bulldog golf team. As a senior, he was named the Athlete of the Year and that's the first time a golfer had ever been honored at Georgia.
Since joining the PGA Tour in 1979, he was one of the most consistent players, not only cracking the top-125, 16 straight years between 1981 and 1996, but finishing in the top-25 between 1987 and 1993. Played in a total of 606 events, making the cut 345 times and finishing in the top-10, 80 times with four wins, 18 seconds and 14 thirds. Member of the exclusive "59" club becoming its second member when he shot that score in the third round of the 1991 Las Vegas Invitational. The course was Sunrise Golf Course, where he made 13 birdies in a round that began on back nine. Birdied his last three holes, including a 3-footer on the ninth hole. Finished T-3rd in the tournament.
Member of the 1989, '91 & '93 Ryder Cup Team.
2011 Notes: Enjoyed his best Champions Tour season, earning his first trip to the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship as a top-30 finisher on the money list. His improved putting played a major role in his rebirth and led to him being voted as the Champions Tour's Comeback Player of the Year. Was T13th in Putts Per Round, up from 57th in 2010, and jumped 44 spots in Putting Average, from 60th to 16th. Posted four top-10 finishes, including a pair of third-place efforts.
2012 Notes: Only one top-ten in 22 starts T-4th at the Greater Hickory Classic, dropped out of the top-30 by finishing 54th on the money list.
2013 Notes: Didn't try to regain his card through Champions Tour qualifying school, has been trying to Monday qualify and plays events he gets sponsor invites to. Played in 12 events, best finish was T27th at SAS Championship.
2014 Notes: Played in just 12 events. Two best outings were a T-22nd at the Boeing Classic and a T-26th at the Greater Hickory Kia Classic, where he posted three consecutive sub-par rounds. Was the first-round leader at the Quebec Championship after a 7-under 65 but eventually finished T-49th after back-to-back 75s on the weekend at La Tempete. Was 91st on the money list.
2015 Notes: Only played twice on the Champions Tour, T-40th at Senior PGA Championship and T-49th at the Shaw Charity Classic. Beck stepped away from competition to join the staff at Grey Oaks Country Club in Naples, Florida.
2016 Notes: Only made one start missing the cut at the Senior PGA Championship.
