Fabian Gomez

Gomez is an Argentine professional golfer who got started in the game by serving as a caddie at age 8. He has played on a number of the world?s golf tours, including the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, PGA Tour Latinoamerica and the Tour de las Americas. Gomez was born in Chaco, Argentina. He has won three titles on the Tour de las Americas, in addition to three others on the Argentine TPG Tour. He placed second at the Chaco Open in 2006, the TLA Players Championship in 2006 and the Venezuela Open in 2007. He won TPG Tour Ranking in 2009. He tried to qualify for both the PGA Tour and European Tour with no success until he made it to the final stage of the 2006 PGA Tour qualifying school. With his 147th-place finish, he got to play on the Web.com Tour starting in 2007. He spent four years on that tour, until he finished 12th on its money list to move onto the PGA Tour.

2011 Notes: Gomez played in 26 events on the PGA Tour, with his best finish T-7th at the Puerto Rico Open, his only top-10 that year. His other top results were T-15th at the St. Jude Classic and T-18th at the Viking Classic. He finished 157th on the money list, failing to retain his playing privileges. Went back to PGA Tour Q-School, but withdrew.
2012 Notes: Gomez returned to the Web.com Tour, where his most notable results were T-2nd at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, T-7th at the South Georgia Classic and T-10th at the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open. He finished the year 55th on the Nationwide Tour money list. At the end of the season, he competed in the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament where he placed T-10th at 21 under par, enough to regain his PGA Tour card for 2013.

2013 Notes: Gomez finished T-2nd at the Puerto Rico Open, T-16th at the RBC Canadian Open and T-21st at the AT&T National, but made only 10 cuts out of 23 events on the year. He finished 133rd in the FedExCup standings. After missed cuts in the first three (of four) events in the Web.com Tour Finals, he claimed a share of 32nd place at the Web.com Tour Championship at TPC Sawgrass but lost his full PGA Tour card and only maintained conditional status for 2014.
2014 Notes: On Web.com Tour, Gomez finished T-2nd at the Stonebrae Classic, T-4th at the United Leasing Championship and T-10th at the Albertsons Boise Open. He finished 23rd in the regular season earnings, which secured a PGA Tour card for 2015.

2015 Notes: Posted four rounds in the 60s to finish T-8th at The McGladrey Classic, just the third top-10 finish of his PGA Tour career and first since a T-2nd finish at the 2013 Puerto Rico Open. On June 14, Gomez broke through for his first PGA Tour title in his 70th event at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, winning by four strokes over Greg Owen. He started the final round tied with Owen, but shot a final-round 66 that included five birdies and only one bogey to pull clear of the chasing pack and take the victory. He only needed 106 putts during the week at TPC Southwind, his career-low in that category for a PGA Tour event. With the victory, Gomez joined Roberto De Vicenzo, Angel Cabrera, Jose Coceres and Andres Romero as players from Argentina to win on the PGA Tour. The win moved Gomez up more than 150 places in the world ranking to 131st and ensured that he got to play in his first WGC event at Bridgestone and first major championship at the PGA Championship. Played the first three events in the FedExCup Playoffs, finishing 64th in those rankings and 59th on the money list.
2016 Notes: Got his first top-10 finish of the year at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, where he finished T-6th. The next week, he earned his second-career PGA Tour victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii, defeating Brandt Snedeker on the second playoff hole with a birdie at the par-5 18th. His final-round 62 was the lowest final round for a winner of the Sony Open, and tied the lowest final-round score in tournament history. Only one top-10 since, T-9th at the Wells Fargo.
