Fuzzy Zoeller

Zoeller has always been a gallery favorite because of his humor and relaxed approach to the game. He has an interest in golf-course design. One of his projects was TPC Summerlin, the PGA Tour's Las Vegas event's host course.
Played on the PGA Tour between 1975 and 2001. Competed in 572 events, winning 10 times, runner-up 19 times, and 3rd 13 times. Has 100 top-10 finishes and made the cut at 400 tournaments, with career earnings of $5.8 million. Played on three U.S. Ryder Cup teams (1979, '83, and '85).
Owner of two major titles: 1979 Masters and the 1984 U.S. Open. Won the Masters on the second extra hole in a playoff with Ed Sneed and Tom Watson. Became just the third player (Horton Smith in 1934, Gene Sarazen in 1935) and the last to win the event at Augusta National in his first attempt. Bested Greg Norman in an 18-hole playoff for the 1984 U.S. Open at Winged Foot GC. He was also runner-up to Larry Nelson at the 1981 PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club and finished 3rd at the 1994 British Open at Turnberry, Scotland.
Owns two PGA Tour Champions titles: 2002 Senior PGA Championship and 2004 MasterCard Championship.
He retired from playing at the Masters after his 31st start in 2009. Played a limited schedule on PGA Tour Champions in 2014. Competed in eight events, with his best finish a T-28th in the Champions Division at the Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf in June with long-time partner John Jacobs.
Played six events in 2015. His best finish was a T-25th at the ACE Group Classic. In 2016, he played in five events. His best result was a T-34th finish at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf event, where he teamed with John Jacobs.
Just played once in 2017, finishing 76th at the Principal Charity Classic. It was his last official event.
On June 17th of 2019, doctors performed a triple bypass on Zoeller and after doing six weeks of rehab was back to normal. The only difference, the day he entered the hospital, he quit smoking, something that was a trademark for Zoeller. He still enjoys his eponymous brand of vodka, Fuzzy's Ultimate Premium Vodka. "I was drinking that three weeks after the operation," he said. "You can't keep a good man down."
Though Zoeller is no longer on the course playing every day, he still has that golfing itch in his body. He has helped design multiple courses in his home state of Indiana and, in the spring of 2020, put his"'touches" on the new Indiana University course. Zoeller wasn't able to attend the 2020 Masters in November due to him being in the high-risk category after his bypass surgery. Before that he had attended every Masters since 1979. He returned to the Masters in 2021 for the Champions dinner.
