Gary Stal

Stunned the golf world in January 2015 when he came from eight shots back to beat U.S. Open Champion Martin Kaymer for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship title. A final-round, 7-under-par 65 gave Stal his first European Tour victory with a 19-under-par total, one ahead of Kaymer and two in front of then World No. 1 Rory McIlroy. Is used to making big impacts, having won on the Challenge Tour in 2012 in only his fourth appearance as a professional. Added a second win a month later to finish 17th in the Challenge Tour Rankings and earn graduation, but failed to make his mark at the top level in 2013 and only regained his playing privileges by winning the fourth card at the Qualifying School Final Stage at the end of the year. Showed he was better prepared for the step up in 2014, missing just four cuts in 25 events to finish 89th in the Race to Dubai, before making an explosive start to 2015.
2016 Notes: Had his first European Tour Top-10 with a T-6th at the Lyoness Open. Will be playing in his first major championship at Oakmont.
