First came to the United States in 1954, arriving on the same flight with Gary Player... Did not join the PGA Tour until 1966, recording one win, 1966 Texas Open... Quit playing golf entirely in 1972 and started back in 1978... Brother Brian is tournament director for the Senior PGA Tour... Held the record for most single-season earnings without an official victory - $453,163 (1989), until Jim Dent broke it in 1991. In 1993 played in at least 30 senior events for a sixth consecutive year and topped the $300,000 figure for a sixth straight season. Also finished in the top 31 on the money list for the eight straight years.
1989 Senior PGA Tour Summary: tournaments entered - 34; top 10 finishes - 18; stroke average 71.04 (ranked 14th); best finish, second, Aetna Challenge, Murata Seniors Reuniao, Newport Cup and RJR Band One Classic.
