Janice Moodie

Started playing golf at the age of 11. Credits Ken Stevely from Glasgow, Scotland, as the individual most influencing her career. Inducted into the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Hall of Fame in 2004. At age 16, she left school and started working in a grocery store and Greaves sporting-goods shop in Glasgow. She had to postpone her college enrollment when her mother suffered a brain aneurysm that left her with tunnel-vision blindness and for the next three and a half years Moodie worked in the winter (including a few weeks in a nightclub) so she could play competitive amateur golf in the summer. Moodie enrolled at San Jose State University to play collegiate golf for the Spartans, graduating in 1997 with a degree in psychology.
Married Tim Carneval on Oct. 19, 2002. Gave birth to son Craig in 2006. Moodie captured the 1992 Scottish Ladies title and was a member of the Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup Teams in 1994 and 1996. She participated in the World Cup Team Championship from 1995-96. As a competitor on the San Jose State University golf team, she earned First-Team All-American honors from 1994-97. She was the winner of 12 collegiate tournaments and posted the lowest scoring average on her team in 1996-97.
In 1997, turned professional and qualified for the Tour by tying for 21st at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 1998 LPGA season.
In 1998, best finish was fourth place at the Weetabix Women's British Open. Tied for fourth at the City of Hope Myrtle Beach Classic and finished second to Se Ri Pak in the Rolex Rookie of the Year race.
In 1999, finished second at the Australian Ladies Masters and tied for second at the State Farm Rail Classic.
In 2000, became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the ShopRite LPGA Classic after firing three rounds in the 60s. Was a member of the victorious European Solheim Cup Team in her homeland of Scotland, where she posted a 3-1 record. Crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
In 2001, tied for second at the Nabisco Championship to mark her best finish ever in a major championship. Paired with Lorie Kane to win the Hyundai Team Matches.
In 2002, won her second LPGA title at the Asahi Ryokuken International Championship at Mount Vintage, where she crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings. Successfully defended her Hyundai Team Matches title with teammate Lorie Kane.
In 2003, best finish was a tie for sixth at the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic. Posted a 3-0-1 record to help lead the European Team to victory in The Solheim Cup.
In 2004, best finish was seventh at the Safeway Classic and recorded the first hole-in-one of her LPGA career during the final round of the Mizuno Classic.
In 2005, best finish was a tie for sixth at the BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open.
In 2006, best finish was a tie for ninth at the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open. Teamed with Catriona Matthew to represent Scotland and finish runner-up to Sweden at the Women's World Cup of Golf, an unofficial LPGA event.
In 2007, best finish was a tie for fourth at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay.
In 2008, best finish was a tie for 13th at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.
In 2009, best finish was a tie for fourth at the Navistar LPGA Classic, where she carded a career-low 64 in the opening round. Qualified for her third European Solheim Cup Team, and first since 2003, and earned 1 1/2 points for the team (1-1-1).
In 2010, finished seventh at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic; finished 15th at the P&G NW Arkansas Championship Presented by Walmart.
In 2011, best finish was a tie for 54th at the RICOH Women's British Open.
In 2012, competed in 15 events and a T26 at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic was her best performance. Moodie is in transition, trading her LPGA Tour card for a life as a teaching professional at Avon Oaks C.C., outside Cleveland. As her professional career started to wind down, she has been taking courses and getting certifications as a golf instructor.
