In the 1988 PGA Championship, Overton posted rounds of 68 and 66 in the first 36 holes, the best opening for a PGA Professional in the Championship, and was just five strokes from the lead. He struggled in the final two rounds with 76 and 74, finishing tied for 17th, which is the ninth best overall performance by a club professional in a PGA Championship. .. Winner, 2001, '02 PGA Senior Club Professional Player of the Year. . . Tied for 10th in Senior PGA Championship debut in 2002. . . In 1982, developed Golf Institute at Innisbrook and Tamarron, the largest resort-owned and operated golf school in North America, training more than 1,000 players annually. . . Attended Duke University on a football scholarship from 1960-70. . . Named NAIA All-American in 1973 at Campbell College in Buies Creek, N.C. . . .Member, NAIA national co-champion team. . .
