Grew up in Southern Illinois, across the Ohio River from fellow PGA Tour Champions player Russ Cochran, who lives in Paducah, Ky. Member of the Korn Ferry Tour in 1991, 1994, 1999, 2000 and then again between 2007 and 2011. Played in a total of 168 events, making 96 cuts and finishing in the top-10 21 times. His best year was in 2000 when he finished 10th on the money list to get his PGA Tour card for 2001. Won twice, was runner-up twice and finished third three times that season.
Played full-time on the PGA Tour in 1987, '92, '98, 2001, '02, '03, '04, '06 and '08. Played in 224 PGA Tour events, making 109 cuts. Finished in the top 10 three times and his best finish was T-5th in the 2006 John Deere Classic. In his nine PGA Tour seasons, his best year was 2001, when he finished 140th on the money list.
Notes: Was among four players who finished T-4th at the PGA Tour Champions Q-School. After Jim Rutledge claimed the fourth position on the first extra hole of the overtime, he secured the fifth spot with a birdie on the third playoff hole, edging Chie-Hsiang Lin and Esteban Toledo. Lone appearance on the PGA Tour was a T-54th at the Reno-Tahoe Open. Also made two starts on the Korn Ferry Tour, missing the cut at the Albertson's Boise Open and finishing T-37th at the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open.
Notes: Prepped for the PGA Tour Champions by playing in four Korn Ferry Tour events. Missed the cut at both the Panama Claro Championship and Columbia Championship before finishing T-22nd at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. Also withdrew from the WNB Golf Classic in Texas after an opening-round 75. Made his PGA Tour Champions debut at the inaugural Encompass Championship and finished T-26th. Did not gain a full exemption to the Tour until midway through the season but made an impact quickly, winning the Boeing Classic near Seattle in just his fifth start. Then, despite only playing 12 events, he finished 28th on the money list with three top 10s, including a pair in October. Used an 8-under-par 64 on Saturday to forge a three-stroke lead at the Boeing Classic and his final-round 68 included birdies on three of the last four holes for his two-stroke victory over John Cook. Vaulted into the top 30 for good when he placed fifth at the Greater Hickory Kia Classic in late October. One week later, sealed a spot in the top 30 when he posted a closing-round, 5-under-par 67 at the AT&T Championship to earn a T-6th finish.
Notes: A year after finishing in the top 30 and earning his first victory, he slipped 17 spots on the final money list, from 28th to 45th. Best showing came in March when he posted three consecutive sub-par scores to finish T-6th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. Went back to Champions Tour Q-School and managed to earn conditional status for 2015. After tying for the sixth spot with Jim Rutledge, one stroke out of the all-important top five, he placed seventh when Rutledge made birdie on the first playoff hole.
Notes: Played in 15 events and had his top effort late in the season. Was a late addition to the SAS Championship field when Dan Forsman withdrew with a shoulder injury and he took full advantage of his good fortune, finishing T-5th. Next best finish T-17th at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai. Returned to the Champions Tour Qualifying Tournament and shot a final-round 64 to place 6th, one shot out of the final exempt spot. Appeared in a position to secure the final exemption until Mike Grob bumped him down to 6th place when he birdied the par-5 17th hole at the TPC Scottsdale's Champions Course.
Notes: Played in nine events, and shared the 36-hole lead at Dick's Sporting Goods Open with Paul Goydos. But fell out of contention with three bogeys over his final five holes to finish T-4th. Finished T-11th Tour Qualifying Tournament.
Notes: played in 6 PGA Tour Champions events. Best finish was T-34th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic, missed the cut at the Senior PGA Championship. Was 116th on the money list, was back at Q-School, and finished T-44th.
Notes: Played in 4 PGA Tour Champions events, had a T-9th at the Principal Charity Classic. Riegger was one of four Monday qualifiers. Was 87th on the money list, was back at Q-school and finished T-10th
Notes: Played in seven PGA Tour Champions events with one top-ten finish. Was 69th on the Schwab rankings. Best finish 7th at the Senior PGA Championship.
& 2021 Notes: Played in 6 PGA Tour Champions events with one top-ten finish, T-5th at the 2021 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. At the end of the year was T-27th at the final stage of PGA Tour Champions Qualifying Tournament. Hasn't played on the Champions Tour since finishing T-25th at the 2021 Shaw Charity Classic.
