Jorge Fernanadez Valdes

Got started in golf at age 5 when his family moved to a country club that had a golf course. Named after his father and grandfather but is better known as Jorgito to differentiate him. A member of Cordoba GC in his hometown of Cordoba, Argentina. His older sister Luci­a, who is three years older than him, studied and played golf at Jacksonville State University in Alabama.
Fernandez-Valdes had a successful junior career representing Argentina at the 2009 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan and finishing runner-up in the 2010 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in the 15-17 age category at Torrey Pines Golf Course. During his amateur career Fernandez-Valdes also competed in the 2008 U.S. Junior Amateur and was a two-time winner of the Pereyra Iraola Cup in 2008 and 2011 as the low amateur in the Argentine Open. Represented his country in the 2008 and 2010 Eisenhower Trophy World Amateur Team Championship, he was only 16 the first time
Fernandez-Valdes turned professional in 2012 and immediately joined PGA Tour Latinoamerica, making his inaugural start on the tour at the 2012 Roberto De Vicenzo Invitational Copa NEC. During the 2012 season, he earned his full playing rights for PGA Tour Latinoamerica at qualifying in Buenos Aires and finished 27th on the Order of Merit
In 2013, Fernandez-Valdes achieved his first career win as a professional at the Mundo Maya Open becoming the youngest ever PGA Tour Latinoamerica champion at 20 years and 9 months old. During 2013 Fernandez-Valdes posted a further six top-ten finishes on PGA Tour Latinoamerica and finished 4th on the Order of Merit earning him Korn Ferry Tour status for the 2014 season.
During 2013 Fernandez-Valdes also made eight appearances on PGA Tour Canada with one top-10 finish.
In 2014 Fernandez-Valdes earned his second win on PGA Tour Latinoamerica at the Abierto de Chile. He also finished 2nd at the Mazatlan Open, 5th at the Aberto do Brasil, 6th at the Ecuador Open, and 10th at the Colombian Open, ending 5th at the Order of Merit.
Fernandez-Valdes played his way to the Korn Ferry Tour through Q School for 2015. Fernandez-Valdes played full-time on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2014, '15, and '16. He has played in a total of 68 Korn Ferry Tour events making 28 cuts with two top-ten finishes. His best finish was 2nd in the 2015 Albertsons Boise Open, his next best was T-6th at the 2016 Servientrega Championship. His best Korn Ferry year was in 2015 when he finished 100th on the priority ranking. His last start on the Korn Ferry Tour was the 2022 Astara Golf Championship, he finished T-35th. He has career earnings of $225,418 on the Korn Ferry Tour.
His play has been mostly on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica Tour. He has played a total of 104 events in his play between 2012 and the present. Along with four wins, he has finished 2nd twice and 3rd twice with a total of 25 top-ten finishes. He has career earnings of $364,847.
With his win in the Visa Open de Argentina in which he was nine back after 36 holes but won by 3, he qualified for the Open Championship at St. Andrews and will be playing in his first major championship.
