Laura Gonzalez Escallon

She was born in Colombia, but grew up in Belgium. Gonzalez Escallon started playing golf at the age of 8. She speaks four languages. In 2008, she won the British Girls Championship and Belgium Girls Championship. Won the German Ladies Amateur in 2009. While an amateur, she was a member of the Belgium National Team.
She played college golf at Purdue University and was a four-time first-team All-Big Ten Conference selection. She won the Big Ten Championship as a junior in 2012 and was also chosen Big Ten Womenâ??s Player of the Year. She was T-3rd at the 2012 NCAA Championship. After turning professional, she played on the Symetra Tour from 2014-16.
2016 Notes: She won twice on the Symetra Tour in 2016 and finished fifth on the money list to earn her LPGA card for 2017. She won the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship. Escallon was six shots ahead of Ally McDonald after two rounds, when the rest of the tournament was canceled by heavy rainstorms. The top-two finishers got an exemption into the Evian Championship. She was 55th at the Evian Championship. She also won the PHC Classic for her second Symetra Tour win.
2017 Notes: She was T-9th at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic in her first start as a Tour member. She was T-5th at the Manulife LPGA Classic after a final-round 67. She was three shots out of the playoff won by Ariya Jutanugarn.
