Mariel Galdiano

This will be her fourth time playing in a U.S. Women?s Open. Began playing golf at the age of 5 due to the encouragement of her father, who is also her coach. Plays clarinet and enjoys going to the beach when she is not competing.
2016-17 Notes: In her freshman season at UCLA, she was chosen All-Pac-12 First Team and WGCA All-American Honorable Mention. She recorded five top-10 finishes and seven top-20 efforts. Finished 2nd in the 2017 Pac-12 Championship, aiding in UCLA?s 6th Pac-12 team title. Also finished runner-up at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, as she returned home to her native Hawai'i.
In the summer of 2016, Galdiano represented the United States at the Curtis Cup (2-2 in match play) and the Women's World Amateur Team Championship. She shot a championship-record, 9-under 133 to earn medalist honors at the U.S. Women's Amateur, breaking the previous lowest 36-hole score by two strokes. Also T-2nd at the Junior PGA Championship and 3rd at the AJGA Yani Tseng.
Amateur Notes: Finished 42nd at the 2015 U.S. Women?s Open. Reached the Round of 32 at the 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur and the Round of 64 at the 2015 U.S. Girls' Junior. Won the 2015 Canadian Women's Amateur and 2015 Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championships. Finished runner-up at the 2015 Junior PGA and the Polo Golf Junior Classic, and finished 3rd at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. Named Rolex All-American, earning first-team recognition in 2015 and second-team accolades in 2014 and 2013.
Competed in 2013 U.S. Women?s Open, where she missed the cut, and 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links, where she advanced to the first round of match play. Finished 4th at AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions, 4th at Rolex Girls Junior Championship, 6th at Polo Golf Junior Classic and 7th at The Ping Invitational.
Competed in the 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur, advancing to the first round of match play. Finished 12th at Junior PGA Championship and won the Callaway Junior World Championship. Posted three top-10s in AJGA events.
Competed in 2011 U.S. Women?s Open - missing the cut, 2011 Girls' Junior - lost in the first round of match play, and 2011 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links - lost in the second round of match play.
High School Notes: Attended Punahou School, where she was Hawaii High School Athletic Association individual state champion three consecutive years (2013-2015). Named the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015. Won four HHSAA team titles.
