Mike Goodes

Played amateur golf until he turned 50. Won the 1984 Cardinal Amateur. Also won the 1989 and 2006 North Carolina Amateur. Captured titles at the Carolinas Mid-Amateur in 1998, 2004 and '06. Was a member of the Carolina State Team in 2004. Won the North Carolina Mid-Amateur in 2006. Earned the right to open qualify at PGA Tour Champions events after finishing T-22 at the National Qualifying Tournament at TPC Eagle Trace in the fall of 2006.
In 2008, became one of the big surprises on the PGA Tour Champions. Began the year as a non-exempt player after successfully earning the right to open qualify via the National Qualifying Tournament, but parlayed success in those qualifiers along with some strong showings in several tournaments to finish 29th on the final money list in 21 starts. That earned him a full exemption into 2009 and he won the Allianz Championship, giving him a full exemption for the 2009 season. Owns a packaging company and is a partner in a plastic recycling business. Enjoys hunting and traveling.
2012 Notes: Had a great year, with a T-3rd at the ACE Group Classic and 3rd at the Insperity Championship. In 23 starts finished 15 times in the top 25 as he won $614,521 to return back into the top-30 at 28th.
2013 Notes: Lost to Esteban Toledo in a three-man playoff at the Insperity Championship when he missed a 6-foot par putt on the third extra hole. Led the tournament after the first round by carding a 69 in breezy conditions at The Woodlands, the only sub-70 score Friday. Trailed Gene Sauers by two strokes after 36 holes, and a final-round 72 left him in a playoff with Sauers and Toledo. One week earlier, teamed with Fred Funk in April to claim a T2nd finish at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf. The pair posted a 9-under-par 63 Sunday to move up 15 places in the team event, finishing one stroke shy of a playoff. Finished the year 26th on the money list. Since joining the PGA Tour Champions full time in 2008, has not finished worse than 35th on the money list and has finished in the top-30 five of those seven years.
2014 Notes: Had another busy year, playing in every event for which he was eligible and finishing 38th on the money list, with $456,108. For the first time since 2011, finished outside the top 30 in single-season earnings. Shot a final-round, 8-under-par 64 at the 3M Championship, which got him on the leaderboard during Sunday's final round. That 64 helped lead to a sixth-place finish in Minnesota. Closed with a bogey-free 67 at Fallen Oak to T-6th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic near Biloxi. The initial top-10 finish came in February when he was T-8th at The ACE Group Classic in Naples.
2015 Notes: Dropped from 38th in 2014 to 48th the previous year on the final money list. Turned in his best performances in consecutive starts in the summer. Was T-6th at the Encompass Championship then at the 3M Championship three weeks later and again was among the top 10, shooting 68-68 on the weekend to finish T-7th.
2016 Notes: Played in 23 events with five top-10s including runner-up finishes at the Insperity Invitational and American Family Insurance. Next best was T-5th at the Toshiba Classic, went on to finish 29th on the money list and 30th in the Schwab Rankings.
2017 Notes: Completed his 10th full season on PGA Tour Champions. Slipped from 29th to 47th on the final money list and was unable to extend his season past the second Charles Schwab Cup playoff event. In 23 events had two top-tens, T-7th Japan Airlines Championship and T-8th Shaw Charity Classic.
2018 Notes: Played in 21 PGA Tour Champions events with two top-ten finishes. Didn't have a top-t20 finish in his first 15 events, broke that streak with a T-6th at the Shaw Charity Classic. He eagled the final hole for a 63 in the final round. Added another top-ten with a T-5th at the Pure Insurance Championship. Finished 55th in the Charles Schwab Cup.
2019 Notes: Played in 12 PGA Tour Champions event with one top-25 finish. Was 72nd on the Schwab rankings. His best finish was T-18th in the Senior PGA Championship.
