Mike Harwood

A consistent performer during 2011, recording seven top ten finishes to end the year in eighth position on the Order of Merit. Is a close friend of 2011 Order of Merit winner Peter Fowler and was in contention with his compatriot in the ISPS Handa SeniorMasters, but it was Fowler who triumphed. Claimed the 2009 Senior Tour Rookie of the Year award after a superb victory in the season-ending OKI Castellon Senior Tour Championship. That saw him jump from 28th on the Order of Merit to 9th and meant he became the first former Volvo Masters winner on The European Tour to also win the season finale on the Senior Tour. Also won the Handa Australian Senior Open in 2009, which was his first competitive campaign in more than a decade. Spent much of that sabbatical working as a club professional after a fine career on The European Tour.
His best year came in 1990 when he won both the Volvo Masters and the PGA Championship. Ended Greg Norman's sequence of six victories in the Australian PGA when he won in 1986. Runner-up in 1991 Open Championship - two shots behind compatriot Ian Baker-Finch at Royal Birkdale. At 6'4" is the joint tallest player on the European Senior Tour with Ross Drummond.
Finished T-2nd in the season opening Mallorca Open Senior.
Has played regularly on the European Senior Tour since 2009, the Senior PGA Championship will be his 100th event on that tour. Has had 24 top-tens and his best year was in 2011 when he won euros143,789 and was 8th on the order of merit. Has won a total of euros670,955 in his career on the European Senior Tour.
