Looked to be heading back to the Qualifying School in 2011 until he finished tied third at the SA Open Championship in November to help him finish 108th in The Race to Dubai. Was unable to repeat that in 2012, but showed his class and experience by taking the tenth card at the Final Stage at PGA Catalunya Resort to ensure another season at the top tier. A talented all-rounder as a youngster, he played county football, tennis and badminton before making golf his profession. Took up the game after a PE teacher friend of his father gave him a cut-down club at the age of eight, and he proved to be a prodigious talent. A member of the victorious 2001 Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup Team, he won the 2003 European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage but failed to keep his place on Tour in 2004. Regained his playing privileges at the end of the 2005 season through the Challenge Tour, with victory in the Panasonic Panama Open helping him to tenth place in the Rankings. But despite 29 starts in 2006, weekend action on only ten occasions forced him back to the Qualifying School at San Roque, where he took the 23rd card. Again lost his card the following season, but bounced back by finishing ninth in the 2009 Challenge Tour Rankings after a consistent season which yielded five top ten finishes.
