Sebastian Soderberg

Soderberg had always wanted to be a professional golfer since he was very young. Even though he played many different sports, golf was always his first priority. He was born in Eksjo, Sweden, but when he was three, his family moved to Belgium. When he was 7, the family moved back to Gothenburg, and Soderberg got a membership at the Partille Golf Club, where he started to play golf. By the time he was 16, he was good enough to represent Sweden at the European Boys Team Championship and won a golf medal. This gave him the opportunity to go to Coastal Carolina University, which is in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He spent 4 1/2 years there playing golf and graduating in 2013 with a degree in Exercise Sport Science. He turned professional in 2013. Soderberg won twice on the Nordic Golf League in 2013.
In 2014, he played all three stages of the European Tour qualifying school, finishing 39th. This earned him membership in the Challenge Tour for 2015.
2015 Notes: He made 17 starts on the Challenge Tour and made the cut in 12. He had three top-10s, his best finish being T-3rd at the EMC Challenge Open. He also had a T-4th at the Madeira Island Open, which was both the Challenge and European Tour. He finished the year 31st on their Road to Oman rankings. He also made four European Tour starts and, along with the T-4th at Madeira, had a T-3rd at the Nordea Masters.
2016 Notes: 2016 he won the inaugural event of the 2016 Challenge Tour season, the Barclays Kenya Open. In June 2016, through sectional qualifying in England, he qualified for his first major championship entry, the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania, where he missed the cut by two shots.
2017 Notes: Played in 16 European Tour events, making ten cuts and having one top ten, T-7th at the Portugal Masters. Lost his European Tour card.
2018 Notes: Played in 18 Challenge Tour events, making 17 cuts with six top tens, including a win at the Italian Challenge; he finished 4th in the Order of Merit with earnings of euro140,960, getting his European Tour card back for 2019.

Finished T-5th at the Scandinavian Invitational, thanks to a final round 63. A week later, at the Omega European Masters, Soderberg got into a five-man playoff with Rory McIlroy in the mix. On the first extra hole, Soderberg made a birdie to claim his first European Tour title. The win in Switzerland earned Soderberg a first prize of euro416,000, an exemption through the end of the 2021 European Tour season, and moved him to a career-best (at that time) 107th on the Official World Golf Ranking.
2020 Notes: Played in 16 DP World Tour events, making 11 cuts with three top-ten finishes. He was 119th in the Race to Dubai with earnings of euro756,702. At the Omega Desert Classic, Soderberg set a record for playing the fastest round on the European Tour. Teeing off first with a local marker and his caddie in the final round, he decided to attempt it and shot a round of 75, a better score than 30 golfers who played at a normal pace. Soderberg played in 96 minutes, beating the previous record of 119 minutes set by Thomas Pieters. His best finish was T-5th at the Handa Wales Open.
