Ted Schulz

Began playing golf at age 8 when his brother built a green in the backyard of the family home. Won the 1983 Kentucky State Amateur and then turned professional in the fall of 1983. Didn't get his PGA Tour card and spent the winter of 1984 running a driving range at Bermuda Dunes in California. Got his PGA Tour card in 1986, but had a poor 1987, finishing 190th on the money list. Was unable to regain his card and played on the Asian Tour in 1988. Returned to regain his Tour card in the fall of 1988 and things came together as he won the 1989 Southern Open and finished 30th on the money list. He also won the 1989 Chrysler Team Championship with David Ogrin.
Full-time member of the PGA Tour from 1987-2000, playing 289 events and making 138 cuts, having 15 top-10 finishes with one runner-up finish. Also competed on the Web.Com Tour off and on; in 33 career starts made eight cuts.
In 2010 in his first year on the Champions Tour, won the Home Cart & Hospice First Tee Open at Pebble Beach in September and finished 31st on the tour's season-ending money list.
2011 Notes: Was in the top-25 in eight of 22 starts, including a pair of top-10 finishes, finishing 39th on the money list.
2012 Notes: In 18 starts best finish T20th at the AT&T Championship. At the end of the year went back to Champions Q-School but missed his card with a T41st finish.
