Thaworn Wiratchant

Picked up the game at the Army Golf Club in Bangkok where his parents used to work, has a highly unorthodox swing which proved devastatingly effective in 2005 as he won the national Opens of Indonesia, Taiwan, and India, plus the Carlsberg Masters Vietnam, en route to topping the Asian Tour Order of Merit. His victory in the Enjoy Jakarta Standard Chartered Indonesia Open, an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian Tour, earned him immediate elevation to European Tour membership. Enjoyed an impressive amateur career in the mid-1980s, highlighted in 1987 when he won the amateur championships of Singapore and Thailand as well as the individual and team title in the South East Asian Games. But it is his distinct swing which makes him most recognizable with his hands directly above his head at the top of the backswing and a long extended follow through. A lover of fast cars.
Wiratchant sealed his place in Asian Tour history by becoming the oldest Order of Merit champion at the age of 45 years and 354 days in 2012 following a season which included three victories. First, he equaled the most wins on Tour which was held by countryman Thongchai Jaidee with a victory at the Queen's Cup in Koh Samui and then secured his 14th and 15th titles at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters and Hero Indian Open respectively. Also finished runner-up on four other occasions and top-10 in three other events. Swept the Player of the Year and Special Achievement Awards at the end of the 2012 season.
Played on the Asian Tour through 2017 when he turned 50. Has played in over 400 Asian Tour events winning 18 times.
2017 Notes: Played in 7 Staysure Tour events with three top-ten finishes. Won the MCB Tour Championship, he was runner-up at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open and T-5th at the Willow Senior Open. He was 9th in the Staysure Tour Order of Merit with euro136,878.
2018 Notes: Played in 5 Staysure Tour events winning the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters. Was 22nd on the Staysure Tour Order of Merit with euro119,874.
2019 Notes: Has played in three Asian Tour Development Tour events finishing T-22nd at the Singha E-San Open, Thongchai Jaidee Foundation and T-34th at the Singha Thailand Masters.
Has been in two PGA Tour Champions events, T-57th in the 2017 Senior Open Championship and T-6th in the 2018 Senior Open Championship. This is the first time he is playing in America since the 2013 Masters.
