2020 Notes: Played in 22 PGA Tour events making 14 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was 74th in the FedExCup final rankings. Didn't get his first top-ten until after the break with a T-8th at the Rocket Mortgage. Was 2nd at the Barracuda Championship, one point behind winner Richy Werenski. In the FedExCup playoffs, was T-29th at the Northern Trust.
2021 Notes: Played in 33 PGA Tour events making 19 cuts with four top-ten finishes. Was 78th in the FedExCup final rankings. Again started slowly and didn't get his first top-ten till a T-8th at the Valspar Championship. Two weeks later was T-7th at the Byron Nelson and two weeks after that was 7th at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Held a share of the 54-hole lead at the Rocket Mortgage Classic before falling in a five-hole playoff to Cam Davis. Made a bogey-4 at the fifth extra hole (No. 15) while Joaquin Niemann was eliminated after the first playoff hole (bogey-5 at No. 18). Marked his second consecutive top-10 at the event. With the good finish Merritt went from 129th to 86th in the Order of Merit, thus getting into the Open Championship were his missed the cut. In the FedExCup Playoffs missed the cut at the Northern Trust.
2022 Notes: Shot a final round 67 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, four shots back of winner Tom Hoge. Shot 69-69 over the weekend to finish T-4th at the Valero Texas Open, three shots back of winner J.J. Spaun.
