Wade Ormsby

Ormsby was born in Adelaide, Australia. He attended the University of Houston in the United States for three years before turning professional in 2001.
Ormsby began his career on the PGA Tour of Australasia in his home country, while also trying to play in Europe. He played his first full season on the European Tour in 2004, having earned his place via qualifying school at the end of 2003. He finished 112th in the Race to Dubai in his first season to retain playing rights, and improved to 71st in 2005, but he hasn't retained his card automatically since then. However, he has regained it several times via return trips to qualifying school, in 2006, 2008 and 2010. In December 2006 (though on the 2007 season schedule) he finished joint runner-up in the Blue Chip New Zealand Open, which remains his best result in a European Tour event.
Going into the 2017 U.S. Open, Ormsby has played in 248 European Tour events making 134 cuts and a total of 13 top-10 finishes. He has won a total of euro 2,152,111 and his best year was in 2014 when he finished 51st in the Race to Dubai as he had four top-10 finishes. Hard to believe that in 2014 it was Ormsby's only PGA Tour start a T-68th in the CIMB Classic. On the Web.Com Tour he played in 29 events with four top 10s. He played full time in 2008, in 20 events mad cuts and won just $58,602, which placed him 98th on the money list. His best finish on the Web.Com Tour is T-6th at the 2008 Albrertsons Boise Open. He also finished 4th at the 2006 ING New Zealand PGA which was part of the Web.Com tour that year. Wade has also played on the Asian Tour and Australian Tour, he has played in 345 events around the world. His best finish was winning the Panasonic Open India on the European Tour. His best finish on the Australian Tour is a T-2nd in the 2014 Australian PGA; he was tied for the lead with Greg Chalmers and Adam Scott, Chalmers won the playoff, beating Scott on the seventh hole. Orsmby dropped out of the playoff with a bogey on the third extra hole.
2017 Notes: He finished 8th at the Handa World Super 6 Perth, he has played a full schedule on the European Tour. Despite playing tournament all over the world for 25 years, the U.S. Open will be his first major played in.
