Aaron Jarvis

Aaron David Jarvis was born on December 8, 2002, in the Cayman Islands. He is the son of Lana and Robin Jarvis and Aaron has cited his family as what keeps him motivated. Both parents worked hard to give him and his older brother Andrew as many breaks as possible. North Sound Golf Club on Grand Cayman is the lone 18-hole course, which is where he grew up playing after watching his brother compete in the Caribbean Amateur which got his interest up. He won the boys 15-and-under title at the 2018 Caribbean Junior Individual Championship and the 2019 Cayman Islands junior title.
He moved to Florida for high school, attending Windermere Preparatory, and began training at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy. Three amateur wins in 2020, including the South Florida Junior Open, got him interested in college. He chose UNLV because of his interest in its golf team, its past players like Adam Scott, Ryan Moore, and Charley Hoffman along with the coaches at the school. Jarvis is a freshman in the 2021-22 season, majoring in hospitality.
Going into the 2022 Latin American Amateur Championship, Jarvis wasn't considered one of the favorites. He was ranked 1,669 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and the last time he teed it up at Casa de Campo's Teeth of the Dog course, he made an 11 on one hole and missed the cut. But he came away with the title, shooting a final round of 69. which included seven birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey. He won by a shot over four players, three of them who could have tied him with a birdie at the par 5, 18th hole. With the win, Jarvis secured his participation in the 2022 Masters and British Open. He's also exempt into the final qualifying for the U.S. Open and into the British Amateur and U.S. Amateur. Jarvis is the first Caribbean champion in the event's history and he'll be the first Cayman golfer to compete in the Masters. The Cayman Islands has a population of just over 71,000, or about a third of the size of Augusta, Georgia.
Jarvis shot 81-74 and missed the cut at the Masters, he was the first-ever participant from the Cayman Islands. He won the GIGA Strokeplay Invitational by a shot over his brother Andrew. He shot 74-75 at U.S. Open qualifying in Texas to not get into the U.S. Open. He went over to the Amateur Championshp but shot 75-82 not to make it into Match Play. Jarvis played at the Old Course on a family trip to the United Kingdom three years before.
