Alan Foster

A radiologist at St. Joseph's Hospital, Alan came to Syracuse from Waterbury Connecticut and has been winning major local and state golf events for the past two decades.
Alan has won ten crown-jewel events, including eight Gerry Ashe Memorial and two Post-Standard Amateur titles. He is one of only three players to have won the New York triple crown of amateur golf, claiming the State Amateur in 1975, the State Mid-Amateur in 1992 and 1995 and the State Senior Amateur in 2003.
Among Alan's most important wins was the 1975 New York State Amateur, 1985 and 1986 Mid O'Hare Best Ball with partner and Bellevue pro Jerry Steelsmith. Plus the Herald Amateur of 1980 and 1986 and 1999 Herald Seniors.
One annual event Dr. Alan Foster practically owns is the Gerry Ashe Memorial. He's won eight: 1982, 1983, 1987, 1993, 1994, 1996 and 1997.
1999 was a very good year for Dr. Foster. He finished second in the prestigious National Senior Porter Cup, won a National Best Ball tourney in Washington, D.C. and finished second in the New York State Seniors.
In 2002, his resume also includes victories in the prestigious Senior Porter Cup and Shoal Creek Senior.
2004: Semi-finalist of the U.S. Senior Amateur.
In 2005, Allan won the biggest tournament of his career by claiming the British Senior Amateur at Woburn Golf Club
2006: Dr. Alan Foster will attempt a grand slam of sorts this summer as he competes in the U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Senior Amateur, British Senior Open and British Senior Amateur.
In Syracuse, he has won the Herald Amateur, Herald Seniors, numerous club championships and a variety of member-guest events. Alan is an active member of Bellevue Country Club.
