Andre Bossert

Since turning professional in 1989, Bossert has been the most successful Swiss touring professional. He is the only Swiss to have won on the European level, both on the PGA European Tour when he captured the 1995 Air France Cannes Open and on the Challenge Tour with wins at the 1990 Neuchatel Open, the 1992 Kenya Open and in Austria in 2008. Andre is also the lone Swiss to have qualified and played in a professional major, by participating in The Open, playing in 1994 at Turnberry and 2005 at St. Andrews. Bossert was born in South Africa to Swiss parents and attended the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma, on a golf scholarship, graduating in business administration. Andre has represented Switzerland in the 1991 Alfred Dunhill Cup at St. Andrews and held up the Swiss flag seven times in the WGC - World Cup, most recently in 2002 in Mexico after winning the qualifying Nations Cup in Indonesia with partner Marc Chatelain. Has played in two Open Championships and is one of only three Swiss to play in that championship. He has been on top of the Swiss Order of Merit most years since 1989, only halted by a severe back injury in 1997 which forced a three-year layoff. Has been focusing on the Challenge Tour since 2001 in a bid to regain his card on the European Tour. Just missed out an automatic exemption in 2001 through the Challenge Tour Order of Merit, finishing a few spots out on the money list and in 2004 at the Tour School, finishing 36th. Andre is a regular on the Sunshine Tour and after turning 50 played in one European Senior Tour event finishing 13th in the 2013 Fubon Senior Open. On the European Tour played in 202 events, was in the money 85 times, in the top ten 3 times winning the 1995 Air France Cannes Open. Had career earnings of euros426,318.
2014 Notes: Played in 12 events on the European Senior Tour, had two top-10s, T-5th at WINSTONgolf Senior Open and T-2nd at Travis Perkins Masters. Finished 13th on the order of merit with earnings of 90,196 euros.
2015 Notes: Played in 11 events on the European Senior Tour, had four top-10s, T-3rd Acorn Jersey Open, T-5th at the Wales Senior Open, T-6th at WINSTONgolf Senior Open and T-8th at the Swiss Seniors Open. Finished 8th on the Order of Merit with earnings of 94,487 euros. Attended PGA Tour Champions Q-School but finished T-20th and failed to get his card.
2016 Notes: Played in 12 events, captured his first European Senior Tour title at the Travis Perking Masters, holding off the challenge of former Masters champion Ian Woosnam to emerge victorious at Woburn Golf Club. Dealing with swirling winds and tricky conditions on the Duke's Course, the Swiss overcame every obstacle to producing the lowest round of the day a 3-under 69 to claim a four-shot win. Enjoyed his most successful season on the Senior Tour, had six top-10 finishes and was 3rd in the Order of Merit with Euros144,866.
2017 Notes: Played in 15 events on the European Staysure Senior Tour finishing 16th in the order of merit with earnings of euro104,646. Had four top-ten finishes, best was T-2nd at the European Tour Properties Senior Classic, one shot back of winner Santiago Luna.
2018 Notes: Plays on the European Staysure Tour; T-36th at the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters, T-54th at the Senior PGA Championship, T-12th at the Shipco Masters, T-32nd at the Senior Italian Open. He is 25th on the Staysure order of merit with earnings of euro17,234.
