Antonio Murdaca

Australian-born of Italian parents, Murdaca showed an interest in golf befiore he was 3 years old. By age 10, the Grange Golf Club relaxed its 12-year minimum age requirement for membership. Murdaca won his share of junior events: At 14, he captured the 2010 Australian Boys? Amateur title, following in the footsteps of Adam Scott, Robert Allenby and Stuart Appleby. He won that title again in 2013, along with the 2012 Greg Norman Junior and the Toyota World Junior Team Championship.
His biggest win came at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and with the victory earned a Masters invitation. Held on the Composite Course at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Murdaca shot 13 under par over four rounds, which was good enough to win by seven shots. He is the first Australian to win the championship. He was the only player to break par all four rounds, and his seven-shot margin of victory is the largest in the championship?s history.
Murdaca?s win has opened many doors. He got to play in the Australian Masters and Australian Open, along with the Thailand Golf Championship. He also competed in the 2015 Qatar Masters (missing the cut, 76-72) and the Victorian Open Championship (missing the cut, 77-72).
He was able to play Augusta National for the first time in March, and on his return home, won the South Australian Amateur Classic by seven shots. Murdaca is due to meet with Greg Norman in Sydney just before flying to Augusta for the Masters, where he is hopeful of playing a practice round with the 2013 champion, Adam Scott.
