Cameron Wilson

His mother, Myra Gelband, was a longtime Sports Illustrated reporter, editor, and researcher for columnist Dan Jenkins. Cameron boasts a very impressive junior golf resume. The left-hander was named Metropolitan Golf Association Jerry Courville Senior Player of the Year in 2009, making him the youngest winner in the history of the award. That year was also named an AJGA All-American as well as being picked as a member of the U.S. Challenge Cup and AJGA Canon Cup Teams. Made it to the round of 8 in the 2009 USGA Junior Amateur at Trump National Golf Club. Won the 2009 AJGA Nationwide Insurance Open, the 2009 Carter Cup and the Metropolitan Golf Association Met Amateur Champion. Was ranked in the top-10 players in the class of 2010 by Golfweek/Sagarin. Medalist at U.S. Amateur Qualifying in 2011, 2010 and 2009. At the 2011 U.S. Amateur, made it to the round of 64 and lost to eventual champion, Kelly Kraft. In 2011, he finished 11th at the Porter Cup, 7th at the New England Amateur and 3rd in the MGA Ike stroke-play championship. Reached the round of 32 at the 2009 U.S. Amateur. Advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur. Wilson made it through qualifying and played in the 2012 U.S. Open at The Olympic Club, where he played a practice round with Tiger Woods on Tuesday and then played with Oregon head coach and former Stanford player Casey Martin in the first two rounds of the tournament. He missed the cut.
Committed to play golf at Stanford and had 10 top-10 finishes in his first three seasons on campus. Averaged 71.43 strokes per round his junior year and his best finish came in a tie for 2nd at the Gifford Intercollegiate at CordeValle where he fired an opening-round 61. Had back-to-back 5th place finishes at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters and U.S. Intercollegiate.
Had a spectacular senior year that was capped off by winning the NCAA Division 1 National Individual Championship. His second-round 63 was the second-best NCAA score in program history. Became only the third Stanford player to ever win the NCAA Championship, joining Tiger Woods in 1995 and Sandy Tatum in 1942. Won the Arnold Palmer Individual National Champion Award and was named a Ben Hogan Award finalist and Byron Nelson Award finalist. Was named PING All-American First-Team, PING All-West Region, All-Pac 12 First-Team, Capital One Academic All-America Second-Team and Capital One Academic All-District First Team honoree. Tied for first at the Fighting Illini Invitational and outright won the Western Intercollegiate. In total, had 11 top-10 finishes his senior season.
Cameron is ambidextrous but plays golf left-handed. Played squash in high school at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, Conn After graduating from Stanford and playing in the 2014 U.S. Open wearing his Stanford shirt, Wilson turned pro. He was able to make his pro debut in his home state of Connecticut at the Travelers, but instead of wearing Stanford attire he was sporting IZOD apparel his first sponsor as a professional. He missed the cut at the Travelers and later that month at the John Deere. At the end of 2014 finished T-28th at the Web.Com Tour Qualifying Tournament earning a Web.Com Tour card for 2015.

2016 Notes: Lost his Web.Com Tour card so only played once on that tour missing the cut at the BMW Charity Pro-am. Did play on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica tour playing in 8 events, best finish was T-9th at the Lexus Panama Classic. He earned $12,492 and finished 76th on the money list. Regained his Web.Com Tour membership at the Q-School at the end of the year finishing T-23rd.
