Caroline Powers

Started playing the game of golf at age 3.
Was a three-time All-State selection in high school and claimed the Ohio Junior Girls Championship in 2008. Named the Toledo Junior Golf Player of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year in 2006. Also lettered three years in track and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Competed in the 2007 and 2008 U.S. Girls' Junior, where she missed the cut and advanced to the first round of match play, respectively. Also competed in the 2009, 2010, and 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links, where she advanced to the first round, advanced to the third round, and missed the cut, respectively. Also competed in the 2010 and 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur, where she missed the cut in both events.
While playing her college golf at Michigan State, she placed 6th in the World University Games, the 2011 NCAA Regional and the 2011 NCAA Championship. Was only the second women's athlete in MSU history to earn the Alderton Award three times (2011-13). Completed her career as the school's all-time record holder in scoring average, 74.26, and owns the top three single-season scoring averages in program history. Three-time honorable mention All-American and All-Big Ten First-Team selection. In 2012, she placed 3rd at the Big Ten Championships and the World University Championship. She was also named Michigan State Female Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2012. Was selected as an honorable mention All-American by the NCGA in 2012. Also a NCGA Academic All-American from 2010-12.
2013 was her first year as a professional and she only played in two events on the Symetra Tour, making the cut both times. Finished T10 at the Decatur-Forsyth Classic. Played in the U.S. Women's Open, where she missed the cut, and advanced to stage II of LPGA Q-School.
Powers has been much more active thus far in 2014 as she has played in over 10 Symetra Tour events with two top-10 finishes. Her best finish of the year has been a fourth-place effort at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship after she carded rounds of 73-70-67. She also finished 8th at Florida's Natural Charity Classic where she shot 71-72-72.
When she's not playing golf, Caroline enjoys playing board games, reading, watching movies and playing sand volleyball. Is the daughter of Buddy and Linda Powers and has a sister, Barbara, and a brother, John. She graduated from Michigan State in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education and a 3.87 GPA. Earned All-America Scholar honors from the National Golf Coaches Association three times and was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar twice. Was also named the 2013 recipient of the prestigious Dinah Shore Trophy Award by the LPGA Foundation, which is awarded to a female collegiate golfer who excels in both academics and athletics, while demonstrating outstanding leadership skills and community service.
