Casey Martin

Shot 69-69 and was the medalist at the Creswell, Ore., sectional to qualify for his second U.S. Open. His last U.S. Open start was at Olympic Club in 1998.
His father started him and his brother in the game at age 6. Martin suffers from a birth defect in his right leg known as Klippel-Trenaunay-Webber Syndrome, a congenital circulatory disorder. Fitted with a strong support stocking to keep the pain and swelling down, the only way he can play is to ride in a cart â?? something that was against the PGA Tour's rules. Under the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Martin won the right to use a golf cart in a legal case with the PGA Tour that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Second-team All-American in 1994 at Stanford. In 1995, was named Academic All-American. Member of Stanford's 1994 NCAA Championship team. College teammates include PGA Tour members Tiger Woods and Notah Begay III.
Martin finished T-46th in the 1997 Q-School which got him on the Nationwide Tour in 1998. Won a spot on the PGA Tour when he finished 14th on the Nationwide Tour in 1999. Played 2000 on the PGA Tour, finishing 177th on money list, lost his tour card and went back to Q-school and finished T37th which got him back on the Nationwide Tour.
