Chesson Hadley

Hadley was born in Raleigh, N.C. on July 5, 1987, to parents Russell and Edna Ruth Hadley. He started playing golf at North Ridge Country Club and then for his high school, North Raleigh Christian Academy. He played college golf at Georgia Tech where he was a three-time All-American and won two events including the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference championship. He played on the 2008 Palmer Cup team.
Hadley turned professional in 2010. He played on the Web.com Tour in 2013 and won his first tour event in June at the Rex Hospital Open. He finished third on the 2013 Web.com Tour regular-season money list to earn his 2014 PGA Tour card.
2013 Web.com Summary: Tournaments entered - 22; in money - 16; top-10 finishes - 8; scoring average 69.61 (ranked 9th); money $305,999 (ranked 3rd); winner, Rex Hospital Open.
2014 Notes: Hadley captured his first PGA Tour win on March 9, 2014, with a two-shot victory in the Puerto Rico Open played at the Trump International course. Hadley shot a tournament-record 21-under and earned $630,000. He also earned a two-year tour exemption and spots in The Players Championship, PGA Championship, and Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Since the Puerto Rico Open is an alternate event, Hadley did not earn a trip to the Masters and he did not finish high enough in the world ranking to merit an invitation. Since the win in Puerto Rico, his best finish was T-9th at the Deutsche Bank Championship. The finish helped him jump all the way to No. 57 in the FedEx Cup standings, securing a spot in the 70-player BMW Championship field. Was the lone rookie to advance to the BMW Championship. Was T-12th at the BMW Championship and moved up to his final place 49th. Along with being 57th on the money list was also the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
2015 Notes: Played in 30 PGA Tour events making 20 cuts, he was in the top-ten 3 times. He had a T10 at the AT&T Pebble Beach, then T-4th at the Valero Texas Open and T8 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, he finished 98th in the FedExCup rankings.
2016 Notes: Played in 27 PGA Tour events making 13 cuts. His best finish was T-11th at the Wells Fargo Championship and Barbasol Championship. Finished 159th in the FedExCup race which meant he had to attend Web.Com finals. In 3 starts missed 2 cuts and was T-22nd at the DAP Championship, losing his PGA Tour card. Went to Web.Com Q-school at the end of the year and finished T-35th.
2017 Web.com Summary: Tournaments Entered - 19; In Money - 13; Top-10 Finishes - 6; Scoring Average - 69.63 (Rank 12th); Money - $264,350 (Rank 9th); Finals Money - $298,125 (1st); Priority Rank (1st); Best Finish, winner Lecom Health Challenge and Albertsons Boise Open. He also lost two playoffs finishing 2nd at the Rex Hospital Open and DAP Championship, he is fully exempt for the PGA Tour in 2018.
2018 Notes: Had his best year up to this point, played in 30 PGA Tour events making 23 cuts with seven, top-ten finishes. Was 44th in the final FedExCup standings. Got off to a great start, at the Safeway Open finished T-3rd, 3 shots back of winner Brendan Steele. His next start was 2nd at the Sanderson Farms Championship and the week after was T-4th at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, a shot back of getting into the playoff. Was T-5th at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he was 4 back of getting into the playoff. Was T-7th at the RBC Heritage and T-8th at the Quicken Loans National. Unfortunately going into the FedExCup playoffs was 24th but with poor finishes of T-56th at the Northern Trust, missed cut at the Dell Technologies, and T-61st at the BMW Championship he didn't make it to East Lake.
2019 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour events making 12 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 80th in the FedExCup standings. Shot a final-round 66 at the CIMB Classic to finish T-2nd, five shots back of winner Marc Leishman. Finished T-7th at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
